I did not see Blues name in the Over 40 Men's draw, maybe he plans to head home after the Teams event ?

Yep, arlene is on the ball... I didn't enter the individuals!
As much as I'd probably enjoy the challenge... realistically, I'm not likely to get many wins.. if any!!

....and besides, Sharon has a week off work and we're making a bit of a romantic holiday of the week!

So the teams events will be a hoot... then you won't see me after wednesday

Hahaha, agreed JT!

Reb.. Wineries are unlikely! Sharon's a wild turkey girl and I don't drink much these days..
The odd beer or scotch, but nothing like the training I received at Ag College in my younger days!

We'll probably visit the zoo, a couple of nice restaurants... and of course every op-shop in the district looking for some treasures!
Gotta pay for the trip somehow!!

That's awesome JT.... volcano cycling could be a new olympic sport! Bet you come down quickly!
Oh, you better pump some iron too... or your body's gunna look way out of proportion lol  I've never seen a Greek god with "windscreen wiper" arms!

We lived on the side of Mt Noorat for about 12 months at one stage. I used to go jogging regularly back then, and I'll tell ya... volcano jogging is hard work!!  Nice view from the top tho

Pretty handy living under one! while they are resting at least. I lived under mount popocatepetl for 6 months and it was smoking more less every day I was there, you would wake up to a scene like this and you think twice about living under one or look for the nearest virgin to chuck in it so it would calm down :p. One day I decided to take a walk right up to the base of. The closer I got to it the more fearsome it looked. Once you get real close it looks all the way more impressive than it does from the town or in pictures, it blocks out almost all your vision so that you are just looking at a 3500 meter wall (on top of the 2000 meters alt of the base) of bad ass badness. Then I actually got scared and came home lol!.

I was in altitude training! for Vets table tennis :p, I actually dropped 12 kilos after I drank some magic water I found in some river in a valley I was walking around in that perhaps wasn't as clean as it looked and arrived home at a lean... 176cm - 50.0 kgs so I wasn't quite super man when I got back to sea level. It took me several years to recover my muscle mass and weight  But the view was worth it !.

50 kgs?!!! JT I'd have blast 40mm holes through you at that weight lol. Did that magic water make you ill to lose all that? If not, then I think we can go into business together with a short trip back to Mexico lol

Reb needs a girlfriend = possibly true

What kind of bike did you get? Been thinking about getting a new bike myself. A roady this time. Mountain bikes are too much work to ride LOL.

I was saving for a good vintage look road bike but I couldn't wait any longer so I just got myself a cheap road bike and then bought some good thin tyres for it. I was so over knobbys and suspension.

Yes the magic water made me very sick, I was fine until some government guys rocked up to the valley I was in and started hammering skull and cross bone signs all along the river and handed me some pills and told me I needed to take these drugs asap.... so I did.

Then I was fine until that night and then I can't really remember the next couple of weeks, I know what city I was in and remember getting there, I walked along the beach and ate a pizza and then got too sick to get out of bed or leave the hotel room for more than 10 days. My wife was sick also but she could still move around so she would go and buy us baby food in jars and we ate that for a couple of weeks, it's all we could get down.

As soon as I could walk again I went back to home base for a couple of months to recover it took probably 60
days just to get off the toilet and I was well worn from the inside out by then, blood where there shouldn't be blood, spitting blood and all that :p so yeah pretty bad.

Looking back I wonder if the "government" guys were legit and I also wonder if the drugs they gave me were legit also! but either way I got very sick. I still don't know what I had, might have been yellow fever because that was in the area I was in or some parasite or both. I'm pretty sure at least some of the problem was just a simple parasite that could have been killed off in 24 hours if I had the right antibiotic with me but I didn't know about these things then, if you are going on a trip like that you can ask your doctor for a little travellers pack of drugs to fix all those kind of things. I'll do that next time if there ever is a next time.

Great way to loose 10 kilos in a hurry but there must be easier ways

WOW!!
Suspect Mexican government guys, scull & cross bones signs, hidden valley under smoking volcano, magic water & unknown drugs.....

and the heading of this thread: "Mornington Vets"....

Could we have drifted any further from the topic??

Ok, so their coffee did taste a little funny... and Reb had the staggers after all those matches in a row... but I think that's about where the similarity ends  :azn:

Amazing story JT!

Yeah seems they stuck to the official rules and you didn't get rated because you haven't lost 4 matches yet. You should have did like I did to get a fast rating and entered the open, Div 1 2 3, then you would have lost 4 and got a rating. Then you could have also still won 4. I think they can still reserve the right to refuse entry next year if they think you are too good for Div 4.

Have to wait and see if I get to enter anything next year yet lol.

There was only one more event I was allowed enter on the day anyway with 5 being the max and I entered 4. If I had realised how slow the day would be I would have entered Div 2 singles. That may have only provided one more loss to the one Blue gave me though anyway

I did have 3 losses and 1 win back in 2008. They could have used them to give me a rating LOL.
