I have not made my mind up yet :), I've got another week yet before I have to decide, if I go I'll have to go by myself in the bus :p. Supachop is resting his leg I think but everyone else should be there. It's tempting me because if I can get 25 points there I can probably gain the other 5 in Spring and Autumn in pennants and be Div 2 straight up next season :0!

There's actually a not too bad way for me to get there on the trains and bus's it's about 8 hours each way but at least they link up well so I wont be stuck at a train station for 5 hours or anything like that. I'll see if I can afford it, I'm pretty keen to go

JT.. you could always supaglue a couple of thousand TT balls together and float around the coast! If Nemo's dad can find his way to Sydney Harbour... then I'm sure you could make it too Mornington!

I'm going!, we should get to Geelong at around 1am and then go on the ferry in the morning, does anyone know how the drive is from where the ferry stops to the stadium?, I'm just trying to figure out which ferry I need to get on

edit: I have it all worked now :)

Cool JT!

Should be about 20-30 minutes from ferry to stadium by my calculations, is this what you allowed?

I'll allow 40 to be sure. I should be able to get a solid 6 hours sleep which will be just as good as usual for me when I'm going to a tournament so that will be fine, not ideal! but it's enough for me to play how I normally do at these things. Hopefully the stadium is homely and enjoyable ?:)! so far Ballarat and Bendigo are my favourite stadiums, Bendigo as a better floor (wood for the win), Ballarat is really homely maybe even more than Bendigo. Albert park and Geelong are not very nice to play in but they have lots of tables and that lets you hold big events which is good

Reb if I go all that way and you put me out in the first round with some dodgy pushblocker rubbish I wont be happy:P

hhh

Don't worry, I'll hit a few big FH's past you as well so you don't feel so hard done by

Give me the right ball and I may even slam the pips past you.

Actually JT, the way my knee has been the last few days I'll be happy just to play. If its as bad (or worse) than it is right now I don't think I'll bother you. I'm more worried about how I'm gonna go tonight. We made it to top of A4 ladder last week and have to play bottom team tonight. I think I will be playing a lot of PB tonight just cos the knee might not let me do much else.

It will take at least 40 minutes...maybe longer on the way home if you are going that way?

Well its only a week to go. I get the feeling its going to be a "SOLD OUT" event. With 3 of us Dandy blokes comin' who don't normally play and a venue with only 9 tables, I hope they got lots of seats outside LOL. I was hoping for a cooler day too, but the weather lately has been rather warm. So it might be rather steamy inside the stadium.

Lookin' forward to seeing some forum mates and maybe a few others I haven't seen in a while too. And playing on the Mornington tables, which I hear are much better than ours!

I don't think you'll have to worry about a heat wave Reb... the word from the weather bureau is that we are heading back to winter with a cold southerly blast and snow down to 800 metres on friday!!!
Really looking forward to Sunday tho, regardless of the weather :)

If you havent played Mornington before...dont go there expecting to get a bit of a hit whilst not playing...it doesnt happen.  The only hit you will get is if you are there about 8.00amish or when you play an actual match

I expected that would be the case PF_4. Will you be playing?

I played a couple of MP members in Dandy pennant last night and they said the tables are a lot slower than Dandy's even though they have a nice matt surface. So this may not augur well for a pip player if someone is used to playing them....or it may completely throw someone else's timing out

So you decided not to rely on all the transport's linking up nicely for you then JT? lol

What a day! Sat around most the day waiting to play TT, then WHAM!! I played over half a dozen singles matches in a row. I'm talking no more than a few minutes between them and 4 of them were 5 setters. My doubles partner and I won division 4 doubles, then I beat my doubles partner to win division 4 singles final. Then Blue_Smartie took advantage of my fatigue and grabbed victory in the 5th set of the Division 3 singles final from me (or should I say I virtually collapsed and handed it to him ). I had completely exhausted my tank and then travelled on fumes for quite some miles then. Had I realised the prizemoney that was attached to the Div 3 was as much as it was, I think I'd have found something else somewhere, not sure where, but somewhere! As it was I got nearly as much for Div 3 runner-up as I got for winning Div 4! And runner-up was only half the winners cheque. :lipsrsealed:

So I am completely spent now. Congrats Blue on beating JT to make the final and then getting through on me. I won't mention the 11-1 set I got off you in the 5 we played

Bb told reb he has good form on his pips

I played really well at times won lots of rating points but donated some of them back to blue as usual :)
I changed equipment totally 2 days ago and played much better moving back to some stuff that's more natural for me to use, so that was great for me.

Sure was a big day!
Was on the road at 6:30am and didn't get home til 11:15pm.. around 450 km in all!

Yes, finally snagged a div 3 title!!
Thanks Reb for being so fatigued at the end.. it certainly helped once I worked out that you use the pips too well for me to blast you off the table!!
I'm still learning how to play combination players and while I can all out attack some and blow them away.. it simply doesn't work on others!
So I wasted a couple of games trying to find my range and getting frustrated, before finally going defensive and just popping everything back waiting for you to attack. Funny, even though you have a booooming forehand Hexer + smash... I was actually more comfortable facing that coz at least I knew what spin was on the ball!!
I'm glad you knocked out ol' Neil.. because I don't know how I would have handled his pips/anti combination!

JT and I almost made the final of the div 2 doubles but were knocked out by two extremely capable super-atheletes in their prime (?)
We did cruise through to win the div 3 final though, which added to my prize pool! Just about made enough to cover my entry fees, petrol and a couple of bananas
Great day overall even though it was a very drawn out one! Always good to catch up with mates

Bit sore and flat today.. lucky my boss is in a good mood

I knew BB gave me a compliment of some sort, but I couldn't quite work out what he was saying (I was pretty fatigued after beating Shane, my hardest win of the day). I just know he said he had better watch out (I think he's pretty safe) hhh

It was a shame we didn't get a hit in JT! Was good to meet you though. I would have seen more of your game if Blue hadn't shown me so many old bottle pics! (nice pics tho Blue - and by old bottles I am certainly NOT referring to your GF!! hhh)

I'm not just sore and flat today, I can barely walk!! My boss is also very understanding tho too!

It was a great day to catch up with mates. I enjoyed it, but playing 34 competitive sets in 8 matches end on end with virtually no breaks would not be my preference ever again. I think Richard was put off from vets tourney's...so I might not be back to another one lol.

Oh and you do realise Blue, that had I not been so damned fatigued, those lobs you gave me at the end would have been smashed successfully instead of unsuccessfully  You did a good job of getting some of my tired smashes back, but if they were full power and switched on (and not aimed at your bat ), they wouldn't have come back. And I do note that many of them did get through you anyway, if not on first smash, then on second LOL.

Glad I could donate you some petrol money and the elusive Div 3 title though.  I was quite stunned as to how much the prizemoney was. I did ok for the day myself!

Oh and I shouldn't forget....it was great to see Arlene and Andrew, Rob and Andrea again too. It was also great to see my old uni lecturer and friend Max there as well. Back in uni 20 years ago I never even knew Max could play TT. Richard and I managed to towel him and his partner Ken up in the Div 3 doubles though. In the semi-final, we lost most unfortuitously (13-11 in 5th set) to the 2 ladies who Blue and JT beat in the final though. Shame we didn't meet you guys in the final there. Would have been fun!

Reb you'll be back, you love it.

Your partner in crime watch my whole epic match without the bottle show, so that's ok.
So long as I have one witness I'm fine with that :).

Still driving home now, about 150 km to go.
I have about 6 months to work on mybackand now before Geelong.
My goal for next year is div 2 so I'm really happy to be so close before the season despite just needing that other big match to make it on the weekend.

As muchas I don't mind losing to blue I'd like to win once against him next year too, just so I can say I overcame the stangle hold he has on my game :P

Anyway I had so much fun playing those tournaments this year I'll play them all again next year
