Now for some Aussie TT Clips
« on: August 03, 2011, 05:38:31 PM »
I've managed to get some vids from my friend Ed of him playing and trim them to a size that allows me to upload (although takes ages even so). Given the file editing I've had to do the quality isn't too great, but thought I'd see who likes it enough for me to put up another. This one is of him playing George Tang in Uni Games in 2009 in Queensland. George is a fairly highly rated NSW player. Ed is around 15 in Vic, but might have been higher or lower by a couple at this point. George won the match, but Ed won this set, and I chose it as it was tight and went into deuce.

Thanks for the reminder JT. I'd like to. I need to find an entry form. I'm at TT tonight, I'll see if they have them.

I did debut at Vets already lol, in 2008 Geelong Vets. Intended to play Mornington that year, but had leg in plaster by the time it came around.

Since then, I keep forgetting and Mornington passes me by lol. I know a few people at Mornington including their President who I haven't seen in 20 years. So its an incentive to go.

I was thinking about giving Mornington a miss.. however if Reb and JT are going, I spose I better enter!

Oh the pressure! Now it seems I'm gonna have to be there! At least Mornington is only an hour's drive for me. And I hear its a good facility except only 9 tables must make a Vets tourney pretty cramped.

Any comments on my vid? I take silence to mean no-one wants more...not even his match against Henzell?

Nup no comments on the vid yet :). I just want to get you addicted to vets comps enough that you think a 4 hour drive is close and go to them all. Those guys in Mornington must have another 10 tables hidden somewhere if they run a vets comp every year. 9 wont be near enough. I'm sure Rob knows how they get around this.

Yeah.. post away Reb. I'd be interested to see more!

Ed doesn't seem to have a lot of serve variations.. well, at least it doesn't appear so! This may of course mean he has some amazing variations in spin, but the actions look the same..  .... but the fact that George doesn't appear to have too much difficulty returning, sort of disproves that.

Also, Ed is obviously quite tall... and yet doesn't really bend his knees much to lower his centre of gravity, just bends his back. Just an observation really! He still moves around quite well!
George looked to get some wicked top spin on his backhands!!

Thanks for posting Reb

JT.. Mornington, being the last vets tourney for the year, probably doesn't quite get the numbers that some of the bigger centres host. It will, however, be a long day!!

Blue I guess I better try and put up the vid of Ed playing WH then. He has a LOT of serve variation from much the same action, believe me. I think its more obvious against William. I have to do a lot of editing and file conversion to do to be able to post that one though.

Oh and yeah he is about 6'4 or a bit more.

Took quite a while to convert and then load this file, so hope its enjoyed. I think the way I did this one should have better quality (but took longer to upload).

This is Ed v William Henzell, with some other Aussies in shot...see if you recognise them. Ed had won the first set, but that wasn't videoed (I think the match was then only videoed because it was a chance WH may be beaten ). William ended up winning the 3 sets following, such a shame the first set wasn't captured. This was a tourney at Croydon in 2010.

Dave Powell versus Michael Brown?
Heming Hu versus Rahul Sareen?
Ed Cotter versus William Henzell
Brian Berry versus Robbie Frank

I think

Well done PF_4!! I knew some of them!
Actually... I reckon I may have even been at this tourney, but certainly not amongst this company! Probably playing out in the back room, running into those solid barriers!  :undecided:

Thanks for the efforts in posting Reb, was certainly good enough quality to enjoy watching  Yep, I can see Ed getting more variation on his serves. Not a bad effort to pinch a game off WH

Had to go back to lower quality for this one to be able to upload. I think its still quite watchable. This time its back to the Uni games where Ed played Michael Brown.

Rob you need to unmute it LOL.

I think Rob will like this one. Ed playing his doubles partner David P in Wednesday night pennant a couple of seasons ago...I think before Rob got into Metro 1.

Nice videos Reb. Should have taken me up on my video offer though!

Ed is much better in the first vid. The video of him and Henzell isn't very flattering for either player, and we know how good Henzell is. He looks half asleep!

Hi guys,

Hope you all enjoyed watching me get taken down by all those player(Im Edwin).
I would like to add,

Match against George Tang was at Australian Uni Games and he has an awesome service return(hes beaten henzell before.....), lol

Its not the first time I have got sets of William but this was the only time it was on film, First set I was down 6-9 and hit 5 winners past him to end the set. After that he began his annoying match rituals, staring at the net taking his time, looking all confused then focused ect.

I used to train as a junior with Michael brown and the match we had was the first proper match I had played in quite some time(stopped training hardcore in 2008). He ended up winning 11-8 in the fifth set i think.

Match against David Pui was one of sheer laziness as I don't take pennant overly seriously and refrain from using much effort until required.

Also, who is Supachop, do I know him?

Welcome to the forum Ed. Good to see you add some commentary to your vids lol.

I have mentioned supachop to you before. Think Bendigo player with a nasty chop among other shots. Rated around 20 in Vic

Last time I played Webber i think I was about 16, i wont be playing pennant this season though.

I may play at the start of next year, probably premier league or if metro pennant is really strong.
