where is he ranked?
« on: July 09, 2011, 09:51:21 AM »
where is this player ranked in VIC:

2011 NZ Vet Open Champ, O60 Final, Mick Wright (Vic/Aus) vs Thomas Samuelson (Qld), 1st Set
(The video's owner prevents external embedding)

Is he 15? or not. I mean the guy without headband...Is he ranked 15, when there are so many better players ranked as low as 60 odd?

Have a look at the picture and tell me if you think that TTV have a good rating system.  I have no idea where mick should be placed, but he is a good player by watching him, you say you could beat him, this may be true, but I just wonder how close the score would be.  Personally I have never played him, I would love to as he's a bit of a legend with his playing style.

A classic case of not answering the question, Is he or is he not, ranked 15 in Vic? its easy, you just say yes or no.

He's 6 places below BB and above supachop, that says it all.

I don't understand your response. Just for your information Mick has beaten BB in the past. He's still a good player, I doubt you would wipe the table with him.

I would definately wipe the table with him, I beat John Hilton only two months ago and he is just a different class altogether to this guy, John was once Ranked 1 in Europe and 3 in the world, he's no-where near that now ofcourse, but in UK beating him is about the same as you guys beating P Pinkewitch. Your suggestion that there is great 'depth' in Vic is looking a little hollow. BTW, what has happened to the PM you sent me pretending to be from Blocker? I sussed it out straight away I had only been talking to him this morning on DTTW, only the admin has the power to go into members private area and delete posts Eh?

I've just recieved a PM from Blocker on DTTW and it was definately not him who sent me a PM, so actually Rob this is a serious missuse of trust on your behalf, you have sent me a PM using someone elses account, pretending to be that person, and you have been into my private area, probably reading my PM's to other members, not funny and not on. I would urge all members to use alternative methods of Private communication if they wish their posts to be private.

Firstly You think you would wipe the table with him, think and do are 2 differant things.
Secondly what are you talking about with the admin powers.

Biggy,

you know I almost always support you, not because I feel we get along so well, but rather because we tend to agree on a lot of things. How ever, in this case, I do hope you are wrong. Even though me and Rob sees the game very differently and can't reach an understanding/agreement on the different levels, I still consider him a close friend and I simply can't belive he would lower him self to send PM's using some one else's account, even if it was possible, which I doubt it is. Unless... No, don't want to share it with every one how it can be done.

Mick Wright is now ranked 14 in Victoria.
I good two winged looper should eat him for breakfast just based on his lack of mobility.

Well, that's not to hard to figure out, I mean, he is hardly attacking at all, so what else would he be?

Still have to admit, my initial comment was about the wrong guy as all I read was headband. Mick seems to be a lot better then Samuelsson, but still not a player who impresses and certainly not for a guy ranked top 20 in Vic.

I'm 100% confident that if any one else posted a clip with the exact same level of play, Rob would claim to easily beat them and tell us all how Vic had at least 100 players of this standard.

NOOOOOOO, really? he's not exactly a two winged looper is he. Look no-one is questioning the fact that both these guys are competent players, just the fact that one of them is ranked 15 in Vic at age 65, when all we get is how high and deep the standard is there. I apreciate that this clip does not show either of these guys in the best light, they are spoilers, and more at home playing someone with a set up they can't handle and a low ability to read spin, but hey there must be plenty of those around the in Vic who are pretty highly ranked in order for this guy to amass enough points to get ranked so high.

Found another video,

O65 Men&;s Singles_2nd set.wmv

This looks slightly better and shows that he is a bit more mobile, but it's hardly impressive. Sure, this guy would most likely beat me, but you don't have to be 2300 USATT to do that. There is actually only one really impressive point in the clip, the point that starts at ~3:10. Here he shows some good skills in getting the ball back and even though he is out of the picture for most of the time, it's obvious that he has to be mobile to reach those shots.

O 65 finals, 2010. That means that Mick is currently at least 66, but could be even older? And is rated inside the top 20, despite all the up an coming juniors?

Sure, he only plays the O 60 events, unlike Rob, who plays the O 40 events, which is packed with juniors...

I can see why Rob is having such a difficult time climbing the O 40 ranking, as it's packed with juniors

Seriously, no offense to the guys who tops both the O 40 and O 50 lists, I'm sure they are quality players, but despite this, it is a sign of lacking depth when the O 50 crowd seems to dominate the O 40 events as well. Sure, if it was one guy, or even two guys, but it's four out of five, including the top three spots on the O 40 ranking list that belongs to guys who also plays O 50!

So lets get this right, you claim I sent an email to you this morning, are you serious, and then you claoim that the Admin can delete it, well I shall go into the admin area and see if its possible.

Now I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place, can you please tell me why, and fill me in on the contents of the so called email so I can have a laugh, but please dont accuse me of doing something I haven't. And since when have you been Judge, Jury and Exacutioner.  I'm in enough trouble with you Pom's (Speedplay must have Pom Blood in him), without causing more trouble.

Question, dont you Pom's have any good 65 year olds, or do they Die young over there.  The Fella that your talking about is a real sportsman, He represented India at the highest level in Table Tennis, and guess what, he also represented India in Cricket for the National Team.  His name is Buddy read, and yes he plays in our Metro Leauge 1.

So, I take it Mick isn't past 65 years of age? Despite playing in the O 65 last year?

Or, is it the u and coming juniors? Cause, if that is shit, then the shit comes from you, as it is you who have claimed that it's because these up and coming juniors that you don't have a higher ranking.

Or, is it the O 40 events? I've seen you mention that you play the O 40 events, is this shit? If so, again the shit falls back on you, as I'm only repeating what you have said previously.

Not and E-mail, a PM. I don't know if the Admin, or the sender, can delete a PM once it have been sent. What.......

I havent made any claims, its you and Bigears that keep saying that we have no depth, and it is you that states we are advanced noob's, there are more things you claim.  My claim is that I had a chance to beat Bigears, yet they are such professionals over there that the air that they breath makes them better, the fact that they have more population makes them better, the fact that they have more players playing the sport makes them better,  Therefore the chinese have it all over us, well never catch up.  Has nothing to do with the early age and type of training they have.

I just dont get you Guy's,  Even Greg Letts agree's with me that Big Ears wouldnt wipe the table with Mick Wright, and neither would he wipe the table with many of us advanced noobs.
The Pom's number 1 veteran came over here at one stage, to the Country with No Depth and left with his tale between his legs,  Talk all you want - as DerEtche says its all smack talk and will never be settled till Bigears, the guy with the biggest ego get to play one of us advanced noobs.

No. You sent me a PM Yesterday using blockers account, you were obviously trying to find out who Blocker is and If I really am in contact with him regularly, so you wrote a PM posing as Blocker, which strangely came from YOUR IP address, or am I lying, I've got no reason to accuse you of this have I?  I knew imediately that it was not Blocker who was behind the PM because I'd just been chatting to him on DTTW. You also posted on the forum not long ago using Blockers account.
