Aussies vs UK (and Sweden)!
« on: March 22, 2011, 01:41:05 PM »
Right, I'm fed up with this forum having spates of anger spread all around it based on Jingoistic (gees I love this word hhh) arguments between the brutes of the UK, sided by some Swedish guy and us Aussies. So, Rob invented this boxing ring a while ago and its time we put the fight where it belongs...in here. In this thread there are no holds barred. New members beware! Post in here and expect the worst language back at you. Old members beware too!

Nothing said in here goes anywhere else! What happens in Fight Club stays in Fight Club!

As of now, every other thread is off limits to this sparring though! Rob, Biggy, JKC, Speedplay, and anyone else who dares to join in.... the fight takes place here and here alone!

I am appointing Der, if he will accept the challenge, to adjudicate and keep score as the neutral observer and battle-worn experienced hand. Der can allocate points in this thread to either side and deduct points for anything he perceives is said in any other thread that should be in here. You up for it Der?

What say you gents? Are you MAN enough to play the game in the way it SHOULD have been played from the beginning?

If so, let the games and sledging begin...open slather!

Reb, you should have checked on my inability to count properly in sequence before appointing me. Oh well, everyone will just have to live with the results. They might so pissed off at me, that they might forget what they were fighting about in the first place in their lust to wax me. Oh, I also award bonus points out of the blue and sometimes count with negative integers, multibles, or exponents.

I think this thread will become one where people take seriously my repeated past offers to hit the "Smite" button on me.

Don't worry Der, you have the reigns. You will be respected in here and your counting ability is up to you. If you don't get respect, I'm sure your counting will convey that LOL.

So, what's this fight about then?

Is it Aussie vs U.K top level and/or depth in TT?
Biggy vs Rob?
JKC vs Rob?
Me vs Rob?
Silver vs Everyone else?

Before I bring out my boxing gloves, I would like to know what the fight is about.

Absolutely anything you want it to be about. As I said, no holds barred in here, and nothing is taboo...it just don't leave this thread!

So its anything thats residual from other threads, or anything new anyone wants to bring on!

I'll give you an example....

My friend who is rated 14 in Vic told me he thinks the Aussie top 20 would have it all over the English top 20 and someone in the 70's in England ain't that good!  hhh

(Now I would never have stated this outside of a thread like this, as I could only imagine the ramifications ).

Now I have a genuine question for the UK boys... and I may as well ask it here as I'm not sure where it will end!

In JT's famous "most wrong statement in all of mankind's recorded history" post... he raises the fact that in the ITTF rankings, the top 20 Aussies have a higher combined points total than the top 20 English players..
Now, I didn't check his figures... but no one argued that as a point of fact.

So... to an alien, or anyone who has no interest in TT (much the same really ), this FACT would certainly suggest that Aussie TT is stronger (or at least more successful) than English TT is. Perhaps that would even stand up in a court of law... as it is, as the very name suggests, a ranking of International Table Tennis players. International Federation clearly reads as the most encompassing and highest level of TT on the planet..... you can't go any higher!

So... JT is shot down in flames because apparently most of England's talent does not play in international events to gain ITTF ratings. Ok, I certainly didn't know that!
My question is...wtf is up with the English??? Why don't they support the International Federation? Is this the same with Sweden and other powerful TT countries? What's the point of having an ITTF if it doesn't represent the best in the world and the rankings don't actually reflect the strength of respective countries??
Ok...so that's a few questions..

Ask the ETTA.

ok.. sure... put them on!

Alright... on a different note, here's a quote from another thread...
Chris as a tru-blu Aussie there is never a choice but to side alongside other Aussies in battle...always was, better always be. Now the fact that we have always also stuck out butts out to help out other members of the Commonwealth and also our American friends, should mean there is no battle or need for the boxing ring...but that didn't prove true. So there we have it....Speedplay being Sweden (and close to Switzerland) is allowed be neutral or swing either way, but you may not...unless you wish to be branded a traitor hhh

If you must be silent like Supachop, well that can be taken in many ways

Now, Reb... what's this bullsh!t? Are you telling me I'm not allowed to have an opinion?? If Supachop broke his vow of silence, escaped from the monestry... and claimed that all people bearing the Christian name of Martin should be abducted and sold on the black market for scientific experiments... then as a fellow Aussie am I supposed to accept and support this as an Australian directive??
So what if the relative TT standard in Sweden goes up ten-fold from this action! The thing is... I may actually know a Martin from Sweden and would prefer if he didn't have electrodes attached to his nether regions!
So... Aussie or not... I will agree with who I like. On any issue I like. If you feel the need to label me a traitor, then so be it!

Wow Chris I wasn't envisaging such wildly imaginative scenarios. Of course you can have an opinion, but you still should remember as to which side you belong

As for the abduction of Martins or Martians by Aliens or Supachops and attaching electrodes to the nether regions to increase the level of TT in Sweden, I'd be most disappointed that he didn't stick to the Aussie way and "Do it for Oz" instead hhh

Na, for mee and all the other noobs you would have to add 2 Zero's. Thats of course till we meet and play and you are totally stuck for words and strokes. (maybe you would have some words - like shit, f*ck etc). I'll make sure I wear my good glasses.hhh

WHile I would like Supachop to post more, I'm not sure if I would like it if he suggested such methods to deal with all the Martins in the world... Al though, it would be nice to have some one pay attention to my lower regions

Don't know how the Swedish association treats the players who are close to the international level of play. I do know that some of the players are getting financial support, so they play for free, while other players have to pay for the entire thing them self. How ever, I'm not sure if they have to be selected by the Swedish association to get to play or not.

I do know that Jens Lundqvist have to pay his own trips this year. Only 5 players (I think it was 5) are getting financial support to play at intenrnational events.

Number 14 in vic... Let me know if he decides to move here, now that we got relegated to a lower division, we might slot him in for a place in the team.

Why would you say that PF_4? Do you know something I don't? He seems very knowledgeable on the subject to me. Have you been over to Europe and played? He has and keeps an interest in developments there. So what do you base your "tip" on?

Yes, he lives on planet Earth.
BTW everyone, the Vic top 20 must be shitting themselfs as Rob's Vic rating drops to 81..., Rob! is that you going in the wrong direction? surely not....I thought you were knocking on the door of quality?

On a more serious note, have you Aus guys ever thought that you just might be embarrassing your countrymen, lets face it, you are all small time league players, you have little knowledge beyond your immediate surroundings, so what makes you think you are so right? You are actually a bit of an embarrasment to your fellow nationals who know the truth.

And I've heard that directly from three Australians in the last few days who consider you to be totally embarassing.

It seems to me as it's going a lot quicker to drop in ranking then to climb the rankings. What a strange system.

I think the Aussies are experiencing the same thing I did when I begun with club TT. I used to be a basement players, and belive me, I was GOOD! Heck, I even thought so my self, as I was beating almost every other basement player I ever faced. Now, imagine if this is the level in Aussie.

I then went to a club (Europe)  and got hammered by pretty much every one at the club. Had to play there for 6 months before I even grabbed a set against any of these guys. No doubt did I get better, but I no longer felt as good.

So I understand you Aussie guys, you are beating your fellow Aussie players and think you are really good players, which you might be compared to other Aussies, but you might be surprised if you ever went to Europe.

Note, even though this is a Boxing ring, I'm not saying that all Aussies are basement players, nor that all Europeans are pro's. I'm just showing how easy it is to perceive your self as good due to the wrong reasons. Rob is proud of his ranking, but for me to get such a ranking here, I would have to be a lot better then Rob. Iwould be seriously surprised if Rob got any higher then level H3 here, which is the level I've reached, but not been promoted to due to rules about only advancing one level at a time. If I did reach level H3, I would play there for a year, then I would get downgraded to H4 again, cause I wouldn't get any points at all in H3. And I doubt Rob would either.

Really Big ears? That's interesting..
So in the last few days, 3 top line Aussies players have called you, concerned about a few of us causing a National embarrassment on a tiny little forum which only a handful of people actually read?? And of course, they called you because...  you can fix it???

By the way... JK Rowling called. She wants her imagination back...
