No Blocker is still around and he has been enjoying the Vets clips Rob has been posting. I just havent had anything overly stupid to say so i have kept quiet.

BE seems to have gone on vacation tho.

Brian is Tougher than he looks, If BE is super consistent on both wings (as he say's he is) and plays a smart game, then I recon it would be a good match - one worthy of watching.
BE, what can you see from these clips that is an obvious fault in Brians game, what are his weakness's, and what are his strength's.

His weakness is definately his f/hand, esp off the table, he's too square and plays passively because he has little time compared to his obvious b/hand strength in all areas, this only shows up though when he's matched by his opponent. As for Greggs Ponytail, I'm speechless...

Game 4, I had 4 attempts at loading it in HD.  Got sick of my computer running slow.

another entertaining game - some impressive rallies towards the end and the block at 1.36 was vg.

Gees, thought Brian was going to squander that huge lead he had there for a while.

Age is a cruel thing. When I used to watch Pinky in his heyday he made about one unforced error a month. Here he made a years worth just in one game! anyway, thx for posting Rob.

Are you saying he used to be good enough to play at Dandenong? Perhaps as high as A2?

Even though age can be cruel, you can still tell he is a class player.

Yes, he has just enough class left to scrape into Dandy A2.  Even so, looking at that clip it's hard to believe he once beat players such as the English and Japanese number one's. I think he may have also beaten Orlowski when he was reigning European champ. Amongst other things Pinky had amazing footwork.

Greg with a ponytail cracks me up for some reason...
Hey, don't be hatin' on my 'tail...  :afro:

Actually, I can take or leave the long hair, but Nita likes it so I'll probably keep it until she mentions she wants me to cut it off. But yeah, it is kind of strange to have a ponytail after so many years of #2 haircuts...

Me too!  :cheesy: And I think he has gained a little weight from last vid I saw. Love the leggin's LOL.

The gameplay is fairly average, although I love the block Greg sends back at a million miles an hour past Brian in the first set, and the look on Brian's face is priceless.

Yeah, more than a little weight unfortunately - I haven't been doing much training this year. After enjoying my first Vets, I'm looking to do more training for next year to try to improve a bit more.

The leggings look funny but are very good for reducing aches and pains.

Brian vs me is always going to be a scrappy game, since we don't match up well style wise. Neither of us tend to attack all the time, and both of us have good variations (I have the long pip/twiddle, Brian has his heavy backspin/float and quick attack switch), so you'll always see a lot of easy looking mistakes when one of us misreads or gets surprised by the other player.

I find playing Brian very tough but fun. Plus he has a dry humour which comes out now and then which cracks me up. But most matches will be a lot of "hit, miss, winner, easy looking mistake, winner, miss, etc". It ain't pretty but it's a high level match of a different type. Having said that, in this match we were both at the end of the week and the end of a tough night and pretty tired. The next night I slept around 15 hours!

Don't worry Greg, as an LP player I know how scrappy one's game can look even when playing well. Those "leggins" I have now worked out are skins. I was looking at them in Rebel the other day and the pricetag if you don't mind Umpire!!! They'd want to play and win every game for me LOL. Glad they do something for the money!

Brian looks hyperactive between points, especially when he has hit a bad one. Jumping around talking to himself is a crack up. And his hair looks kinda 70's lol.  I think the mullet died back then!!  Makes your tail look "hip". Still was good to see him VICtorious over a sand-groper LOL.

As for the weight, hard for some of us O40's to keep in check!

I think he'd make it straight into A3 at Dandy, he might have to work his way up to A2. But seeings as he is on his way down that might never happen.

That says it all. I can  NEVER get that kind of sleep. Either someone in the military calls me up for some bullcrap, or the wife is demanding to go somewhere with me. If I get 9 hours after a week that wears me out to the bone, I am lucky. ENVY!

What you said is so right. It can be difficult to detect and appreciate what is going on and the level of skill/tactics displayed.

Yeah, maybe. Nita and I like Melbourne and Nita has some family there too, so we were thinking about maybe coming over to live for a while. Possibly only 3-6 months or maybe longer depending on stuff. But it also depends on other things happening over here, so it's just a possibility we are considering at the moment.

We'd be coming over to enjoy Melbourne more than train hard for table tennis, but I'm sure I'd still fit in some table tennis somewhere!
