The Junior Open was held the 22nd of May (Saturday), about 80 entries. The Senior Open was held the 23rd of May (Sunday), about 47 entries.
The Victorian Senior team has already been selected, hence the low turn-out. The highest seed in the Men's Open was Alex Swanson, from Adelaide. Very tall guy, at least 6'4" I would think. He won the Men's Open Single, the Men's Open Doubles and the Mixed Open Doubles with me as a partner! The other pairs were: Claire Montgomery/Edwin Cotter & Kim James/Mick Warr.
Alex game me some good pointers with regards to reading serves. Things that have been told me already, but reminders don't hurt. Like watching the emblem of the ball to see whether that ball is loaded with spin or no spin, the way the racket face goes up, or under to determine whether it's a chop or a topspin.... thanks Alex, not only for being a good supportive partner, but for the pizza provided for the committee as well!
