In TT, equipment is also very important, but I don't think that a player have won or lost a tournament due to his superior/inferior equipment.
Gee I dont know about this Speedplay, down here in Australia the Buz is Tenergy, even at lower levels. Just because some of the pro's use it, doesnt mean its the best. Some even say that the Pro versions are Differant. I know Waldner use to pick his rubbers from a selection.

From a purely athletic standpoint I'd have to agree that TT is way more complex than I ever thought it could be when I was just a recreational player.
And the Higher level you get to play, the more complex it become again. More Spin Variation, more speed variation, More Acurate pplacement of balls. You have to be extremely fit, Reflexes have to be better than extremely sharp, and your Muscles groups must be able to work at a very fast pace. Your Eye sight has to be 20:20. I think the list goes on. To top this off, your equipment has to be Top Notch. Lets face it, which pro uses 729 Coach Power (Ultralight).

If I could toss in another highly complex athletic endeavour I would suggest the quarterback in an American or Canadian Football game. He has to keep track of 22 guys (24 in Canada) doing something different on every play, half of whom are trying to knock his head off. I'm not real familiar with Australian Football but I think it is somewhat similar as well.

But I would also rate golf highly as some have mentioned before. One look at a golf rule book will confirm the complexity of that game!

Hey C1C, good to see you found it here as well. I mentioned motorsport earlier as being complex but not knowing it in detail couldn't say just how complex. I think some people thought I meant golf was THE most complex sport, which I did not, just one that would have to be in the mix. And as you say just look at the rule book. Had 9 holes of golf today and was reminded of just how complex it is, but also how wonderfully simple it can also be. My playing partner had a 9 on the first hole (from golf's complexity), had a hole in one on the second (from its simplicity and a shipload of luck) and had another 9 on the third!! And continued to suffer the complexities of the course, the wind, the traps etc for the rest of the game and stuffed pretty much every other hole. Meanwhile I parred many of the holes, but as it was a course I'd not played before, the hole he aced, I lost my ball on, having overclubbed, hitting a sweet shot that hit the green and sailed onto oblivion somewhere never seen again!!

Having done some shooting, mainly with rifles at targets or rabbits in my time, although have shot with everything from 9mm through shotty to sub-machine gun, I would classify that "sport" as complex for sure! Not having actually dont the clay target shooting with shotty myself, I couldn't say how complex but the rules and variation of target types sounds like it makes for added complexity. I'd imagine good breathing would play a major part?
