As there was just under 100 entries in total Speedy... does it really matter?

Could matter. If there where 99 entries, 112 could still be the best guess, seeing as the next guess is at ~75?

Still, if it's not a winner, then it doesn't matter.

Well there were 96-ish entries I believe and I reckon at least 1/3 of them were female...

Anyway... I left your 112 guess off the list because you changed it after Rob mentioned there wasn't that many vets in total! And you couldn't claim both guesses as from Rob's rules, there needed to be 6 other guesses between them.

That's the official reason as to why I left that guess off the list

Crap! I hate it when I'm wrong.

Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I've got the numbers right instead so that I win the competition.

Might be so, but you are forgetting one thing. The Aussie male vs female quote formula.

Rob stated not to long ago that most of the TT players in Australia where sissy's, so amongst the 2/3 male entries, I think we need to divide it with at least 25% to make up for the sissy factor, getting the number a lot closer to my guess at 59.

JKC is going into fractions of a player in his next post on this subject.

Nah, I simply think JKC have a different definition of player then the rest of us. Rob might announce that there where 70 players, but according to JKC, there might only have been 3-4 players, the rest of them where only participants due to their lack of level, thus he refuses to call them players

Hi Nev,
Welcome to the forum
A little off topic on this thread about Sunbury... but hey, most of our threads go off-topic anyway!!

I see Arlene gave the forum a bit of a plug in the last Nets & Vets newsletter... so we might get a few new members come along! How did you discover the forum Nev?

... and as for your keen-agers group..
Last Wednesday myself and my club's president drove up to Albury from Shepparton to check out how your program is doing and I must say we were suitably impressed!! We are looking at starting a similar program in Shepparton... so you may be able to run bus trips to play our keen-agers soon

One small piece of advice on this forum Nev... if no-one offends you at any stage, you are not paying attention!!  There is much friendly banter on here that to the untrained eye, looks for all intensive purposes as outright abuse. I suggest you take any suspect comments with a grain of salt.. nay, the whole salt shaker!!  :azn:

Cheers,
Chris

The Person that tells me that Table tennis players are Sissies, will deserve a nuckle sandwich, will you kindle give them one for me. hhh

Anyway the final count
Total Entries: 100
Total Withdrawels: 5   I think JKC Scared them away
Female Player: 27
Male Players: 68

So who Guessed correct.

BTW, Brian Berry Was the Winner in the End.

Rigged!! Rigged!! hhh

Chris made 68 his very first guess and he denied having inside knowledge, but it seems that he must have LOL!

Well, no better deserving player here to get the Hexer Plus. Play well with it Chris!

Oh wait...5 withdrawals you say Rob? Were 4 or 5 of them male? That would make 72 entries the best guess! Oh, but wait, I re-read the question and it does say attend and play...so its still yours Chris, you can stop sweating!

Welcome to the madhouse....er, I mean forum, btw, Nev!

AWESOME! Wow, first guess too. I agree Reb, it does looked rigged lol  but it was honestly a guess... in fact it wasn't even that! I gave it no thought at all... just used the number from my alias to kick the competition off.
Just goes to prove... thinking is an over-rated exercise

I was just reading about Hexer + the other day too, thinking it would be interesting to try  :azn:

So now, the big question... do I try it on the f/h, or b/h???

Oh.. and thanks heaps Rob for your generousity

Hey wow... just noticed... who's been playing with the karma points??
Last time I took notice of mine, it had degraded a few, down to 2...  :undecided: And now it's shot up like the Aussie dollar!!

Me? I'm not saying it, I said that JKC's guesses might be due to the lack of level, so he would only consider the top 4 to be players. Me, I would say it was only the top 2, at best

As for the Karma points, I think every one with a mod status can play around with them as much as they like, but I'm strongly suspecting that the one who have played with my karma have a higher status then Mod...

Back to the comp, 68 male participants, who all are sissys to some degree, makes the final result 68*0.75=51.

Which makes Supachop the winner!

Congratulations Supachop, well deserved.

Yes pi is irrational (like some arguements I see on here )! It is also transcendental.

My line regarding fractions was more in a holistic sense ie. the answer of pi, indicates just slightly more than 3 players...

To a maths professor my statement was wrong.... to the average TT schmuck, it was acceptable. To some others, it stopped them thinking about lunch!

Yes but pi r squared would be sort of rational though if we gathered all the players in a circle lol.
