Geospin tacky powersponge or suggestions...

As I'm about to order from Rob, I'm going to order a pair of rubbers for a friend of mine as well. He plays a brush kind of loop game and wants a rubber to suit this style, while it still should have decent speed. He seems to like tacky rubbers better then grippy, that is why I thought about the Geospin tacky powersponge for him.
Now, do you think it would be suitable, or is there something better in the shop for him, also considering price and durability?

I would Say Venus, As the 729 GeoSpin Tacky with the Powersponge is still quite a slow rubber.

Is the Venus faster???
Also, I might have got things confused here, but I thought I read that the Venus wasn't tacky, or at least, only very mildly so?

Venus is faster, but not tacky after first hit. If you want tacky and fast from Galaxy go for Jupiter.

In the interests of forum discussion... and the fact that I don't really know
, What's the difference between a tacky rubber and a grippy rubber....I sort of thought the were the same type of thing!

Chris most simple definition is a tacky rubber is sticky and will pick up/hold a ball off the table. Spin is generated more from the ball briefly sticking to the rubber in the stroke, whereas a grippy rubber won't have the ball stick to it and generates its spin by the friction/grip the rubber puts on the ball. Tacky rubbers are generally confined to Chinese rubbers. Grippy rubbers can be either Chinese, Euro or other. Some rubbers start out tacky and have the tack wear off quickly and remain grippy afterward. Some rubbers stay tacky for ages and re-tack by washing with water, but once the tack wears off are basically useless. I don't like tacky rubbers much. They are generally slower, attract more dust, and don't have the feel I like.

As Jeff states, tacky rubbers use the sticky or tacky surface to produce the spin. They generally have very hard sponges to assist in the speed department, although I clasify them as slowish, but not slow.
On the other hand, the grippy rubbers, like Andro Hexer or Butterfly Tenergy have a grippy but not sticky topsheet, this grippy topsheet in conbination with a softer formula topsheet & softer Sponge produces the spin, Generally players will hit into the spoge to generate the spin. The soft Topsheet with the soft Sponge allows the ball to sink into it, and grip a lager surface area. The trampoline effect that this creates, then helps to propel the ball back out at a fast pace.

ok, thanks guys...
I had heard of tacky rubbers which could pick a ball up (never actually seen one!)... but I had always thought they must be just more grippy than mine. Now I understand the difference. It doesn't sound like something I need to venture into!
