Hollow handle Wavestone???
« on: December 26, 2009, 05:46:03 AM »
Rob, since Santa didn't bring me any TT gifts, I'm forced to buy them my self, but to my big surprise, I noticed you only have the Wavestone hollow handle concave and not flared!

Please tell me that this is only a temporary thing and that you will get it back with flared handle again???

Also, currently undecided about fh rubber for it. I know I love the Roxon 450, but both Hexer and Barracuda have got me tempted and it would nice to try out the Tenergy 05 to form an opinion of my own about it. Your thoughts about this?

Checked the shop again, and the Tenergy is out of the equation, it is simple to expensive and I simple refuse to belive it can be good enough to warrant that price. It costs almost twice as much as the other rubbers I'm considering!

So, it's between Hexer, Roxon 450 and Barracuda right now.

Yes, I noticed it was listed with both options, but since there was a message that it was only available in concave, I thought this was the message to trust.

So, in the future, if it is available in the scroll down box, then it is in, regardless of any messages saying that you are out of them?

Will probably make an order soon, and I probably need a new Wavestone blade as the ones I have are beaten up pretty badly. Now, I need to decide which rubbers I will order along with it...

hard to answer, cause, what is intermediate level? I still consider my self to be a low level player, but I guess I would be able to beat a lot of members who think they are intermediate or even advanced.

Also, for what style? The Wavestone blade is rated Off+, but I use it for a modern defensive style. My own findings is that it works very well with most rubbers, as long as they aren't to soft, or LP, which I've not be able to use on it. Roxon 450 is so far the best rubber I've used on it, but Roxon 500 and Donic Platin have also been really good.

well you don't sound like either a beginner or advanced player to me, as most forumers I believe where all in the middle.

I see us simply as

1. new - cant do all the strokes
2. can do all the strokes but are not pros
3. pros

LOL!

If this is how we are divided, then I think that level 2 would be most suitable for me, even though there are nights when I feel like I should belong to level 1 :embarrassed:

What about 2a. can do all the strokes but are not pros. But can not do them all correctly.

I had a hit with a wavestone & Impuls Speed setup the otherday, and it played better than a Mark V setup on the same blade. Just a little linear in the ball flight.

I like to hit with power and spin... and I like fast rubbers like Outlaw. However, any of my favored rubbers on the Wavestone resulted in a bat that was WAY too bouncy and fast to control opening loops are any loop for that matter. I have to go down to 35 degree sponge to get any semblence of dwell time and control. I would have to see Speedplay in action live to see his style of looping or hitting to know how the Wavestone helps him.

By the way, Speedplay has been acquiring entirely too many Wavestones - too many for even a museum display. Is he trying to smuggle anything in those hollow handles ??!!

for me 2 = 2a can do them all the strokes maybe inconsistantly or with bad form (but if it is weird it could be good for you)

3. for me is you do all the strokes consistantly and have good technique and footwork
You dont need to be a world level player to be a pro in my opinion.  I would say at BTTA we have atleast 5-10 players in the pro section.
They dont always play though.
