My First Trophy!

I haven't been active on this particular forum for a while, so what better way to start off my return than a success story!
have been participating in a handicap comp all year, and that has beenmy main source of experience. I started in last February, and have goneonce a week every week and have never missed a week apart from when Ihad 3 weeks in NZ, and then I met up and played with Greggy thereanyway. It is a handicap system where you get given a base handicap andyour opponent has a handicap, and depending whether you are the betterplayer or not, you start with a lead or a loss. If you do the best onthat night, you get your handicap decreased to make it harder for youthe next week. At the start I started on +22 as my handicap, and fromgetting it decreased by 2 for every week I won, I eventually ended theyear on -4. The only person underneath me is the owner of the clubwho's handicap is -30, and still goes fairly well. The closest personme on the other side was another person was on +12 at the end. Gettingyour handicap decreased is not the only thing that happens when you winor even participate on the night, because depending on how you go, youget points which accumulate over the year. For the most wins on thenight, you get 10 points, and then second place, 9 points, etc. etc.Last week the competition ended with me being on the most points, sothat meant I won the yearly competition! The person who had won it forthe last few years brought in the yearly trophy for the competitionthis week, and I got presented it on Tuesday. It is a very nice cup, valued at $800, that I get to look at and dust for 12 months, and Ivery proudly have my name engraved on the 4th little badge showing whohas won it. I also won $30 in prizes. The trophy is extremely heavy, and even though I have decent biceps, it was still a struggle to liftand take out of the place. I managed in the end. I thoroughly enjoyedmy first year of playing, and I think I got loads and loads ofexperience from it, that I will put to use next year when playing theserious fixture competition on Wednesday against all of the goodplayers. If you've read this far, give yourself a pat on the back. Thanks for reading.
And, yes, I do have pink nail polish on.

Congratulations Vinnie!!!
As supachop said, that's an impressive trophy
My first table tennis trophy was a teaspoon!
....and winning the Spring comp last week, we just received glasses (drinking ones...not for the eyes
).
Thanx for the report... and I'm sure 2010 will see more trophies for you!
Merry Christmas,
Chris

Thanks for your kind words.
I know, I thought it was a mega trophy for not HEAPS of hard work. I'm grateful nevertheless.
As for versing Greggy, we didn't play too much, he was just giving us hints & tips in how to play. It was then that I didn't understand LP either, so I was clueless.
