« on: December 17, 2009, 04:29:30 PM »
Hey guys,
I search a rubber to chop good with it and hit good too with.
So I was thinking about the Pluto from milkyway and the guillotine from Xiom.
If somebody can help me to do a choice or can give me other idee it should be very helpfuhl for me.
Thank you

I recently tried the Donic Akkadi tai chi rubber, and was amazed at how easy it was to chop and hit with it. This rubber had the thickest topsheet I have ever seen.

Black is powerful. "Made in China"
The very grippy top surface of the DONIC Akkadi TAICHI ensures maximumspin and rotation to a level never before experienced. This is thereason why so many of the world's top ranked Asian players play withthis black rubber on the forehand. Due to its special black sponge theblack Akkadi TAICHI is a bit harder and stiffer than the red version.
The red Akkadi TAICHI is more elastic and, thanks to its Japanesesponge, produces an even better bounce of the ball. The black versionis especially recommended for the forehand. It creates possibilitiesnever dreamt of when serving to open the game and to produce the firsttop spin in the rally.

Akkadi is a pip rubber. Long pip I believe!

I wouldn't go Pluto, its a short pip that thinks itself medium and its not too easy to use. I'm an LP Player who doesn't mind mid-pips either. Have also used SP, but its not my preference and if you want to chop well I would go for LP or at least MP. I'd steer clear of Pluto, its a little weird in its feel, and chopping is not its forte'. There are better things to hit with too.

Butterfly Feint III is pretty easy to chop with. So is Galaxy Neptune or 955. Hitting is not so easy with them. 755 is an LP that's ok to hit with, and so is its little brother 755-2 which is MP. Not a bad pip either of them to start with. DHS C7 is a great mid pip to hit with and chops ok too.

Palio 351A, Bomb Talent and Meteor 8512 are all quite nice LP's to chop with. The Meteor is the easiest to hit with. All take some good technique though. Don't expect any pip to hit easy as you can with inverted. Needs more precision and is less forgiving.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

Skippy, only one way to learn mate. Well 2 I suppose. Use them and read about them! I was a pip dunce only 2 years ago. Now I have experienced half a dozen MP, a dozen LP, and a few SP. Not only that, but I am getting fairly competent in their use by now too! Even managed to have my best season in my life this one just gone, winning 2 premierships and leading player in one of the leagues.

Hey tank you very much it's very helpfuhl!
Yes I think that half long or short pips are too hard to use for chopping in my level.
So what about the guillotine-s from Xiom? it could be great no?

Dawei Saviga V, a long pip rubber that is fairly easy to use in all aspects of the game. Another bonus is, it is fairly cheep, so it won't ruin you to try it.

I'd have to dissagree with you here Speedy, The Saviga V is much harder to use than both Short Pips & Medium Pips.

That is impossible, Saviga V is one of the easiest LP's to use, so if you are capable of playing with LP at all, then Saviga V should be real easy to play with. Obviously, if you aren't used to LP, then any sheet will take some time to learn how to use.

Haven't tried any MP my self, but I know my game isn't suited for SP, I simple can't figure out how to play them!

Its a tough one between MP and SP and Saviga V being they are LP. I would have said most people would find SP and MP easier to use than LP in general (but not for chopping). If you can use LP I believe Saviga V to be an easier one to use. I do recall when I started with LP and chopping just came naturally for my style. Hitting took time to develop and is still getting there. SP is easier to learn to hit with IMO, because aggressive play is what SP is all about, not that it doesnt take skill to do so. So I'm kinda sitting on the fence between Speedplay and Rob as both have some valid arguments. I do believe if you are going to learn pips though, and dont intend to just stick with SP, and want to chop, LP is the place to dive in at. Being proficient in LP tends to give a good understanding of using pips in general IMO. I think I'd be cool with SP now that I have learnt to hit with LP and MP. When I only knew how to chop well, SP was a disadvantage. I played with it, but not near as well as with LP. Thing is, I love LP and MP so much I have little desire to try more SP.
