« on: November 21, 2007, 03:10:40 PM »
What the go with this, Butterfly has released a new rubber, BRYCE SPEED.

Is the Australian Butterfly Distributor crazy, Having a retail price of $89.99

here's the link http://http://www.butterflyaustralia.com/news_show.php?id=40&width=620&

In this day and age, where rubbers like Omega, Plasma,  & Tango Extrem retail for around the $45.00 mark.

And I bet there will be people out their that will try it.

I Wonder how much faster it will be than the regular bryce. They know have a speed rating of 14.

Where will it all stop.

Silver asked me to look at a Korean article reviewing the Bryce speed a month or two back. It was SO FUNNY. It was obvious that BTY was paying him lots of $$$ or he realy wanted to go on his knees for a while to impress BTY. He said the the horror of bad glue jobs was over and his long quest for a rubber was over, that the rubber had the special power, whatever that was. Maybe that stuff was appealing to Koreans, but it was halarious to me.

Okay guys, the price aside.

This is really a top-notch rubber. Its surface is grippier than the original Bryce, and and although it feels hard to the touch, it plays quite soft.
I'd also like to point out that for those people who are used to how traditional rubbers play in the short game, Bryce Speed simulates this, and tensors just aren't there yet (yes you can get used to them, but it's just never as good IMO).

If you have half-sponsorship, it's only like $40 a sheet, which is cheaper than wholesale. So meh.

P.S. At the risk of being labelled a Butterfly sales, I posted this, hoping that some of you guys may give this rubber a second (first really lol) chance before judging it based solely on its price.

I am sure it is a very nice rubber for those who are able to extract the best from it (not me). I do have trouble seeing past the price though, I can't help thinking of the butterfly bosses laughing all the way to the bank as these rubbers wont be much to manufacture. The masses will keep paying huge prices for 'the best' rubbers so who can blame them for charging so much for it really.

Iruiru has it for 4800 yen, which makes it one of their most expensive rubbers behind their Neubauer range (These are 7100-odd yen, which means they probably have a poor supplier or something) and behind Couga Tuneup.

The two other rubbers at the same price point are Omega II (looks like they're sourcing it through TSP) and V-Stage.

How come V-Stage never had so much whinging about the price?

Yeah, but it doesn't feel like its High Tension. It should be called Mild Tension.
