Impluse Speed vs. Hexer
« on: November 24, 2009, 09:35:42 AM »
Hi guys,

Just looking for some peoples opinion on what I should replace my rubbers with. I have two sheets of Impluse Speed which are just simply worn out due to normal use and wear (seen play for around a year @ 5 times a week). So i'm looking to replace them with either some fresh sheets of Impluse speed, or considering upgrading to the new Hexer product. My main concern is that Hexer will be to fast and not provide the same amount of feel/touch?

Thoughts?
Thanks~

If you want to replace the Impuls Speed, then why not try the Roxon 330. It uses the same sponge as the Impuls Speed, but a much Grippier topsheet. Its a very nice rubber. I have switched from Roxon 450 1.8mm & 2.0mm to Roxon 330 Max & 2.0mm, I think with my next change I will use Max both sides, as its not a Superfast rubber. Thus still giving maximum control.

Is there a reason why you are thinking about the Hexer ?

Hrmm not really a fan of Roxon for some reason... it gives off a bad vibe. Because it shares the same sponge, does that mean speed is identical? Also durability similar?

Hexer because its the newest tensor out and I'd only heard good reviews, oh and the obvious cool factor ;).

the roxon 330 is a more difficult rubber to master than the impulse speed. (because of the grippier topsheet.. you have less margin of error in your moves)

having said that, i replaced my impulse speed withthe roxon 300 on one side and hexer on the other... and after im over the learnign curve, i wouldnt go back to the impulse speed after getting used to the hexer on my backhand.

the hexer on the other hand has pretty much the same error margin as the impulse speed.. it's not too susceptible to incoming spin (because of the hardness?) .. i found the hexer a super easy rubber to pick up and play with with minimal learning curve... (coming from impulse speed)

the roxon 330.. once u topspin properly with it.. the amount of spin u get on the ball is nuts.

Thank for the feedback priior, did you get both Roxon 330 and Hexer in Max thickness?

Rob, expect an order in the next few weeks!

I'm so glad there are others out there who seek something a tad faster and spinner than the Implus Speed. I love this rubber to death on the backhand, but I still get pinned down there because I use a slow(ish) blade.

Sounds like 330 or Hexer is the way to go then, but I'm leaning towards the 330 since I'm loving the lightweight of the Impuls Speed.

Out of all of the tensors I've tried on the bh, I still feel JP Gold is the best...
