They aren't bad at all. How long before you make the first team Speedplay?

I was only looking at that vid a couple of days ago. Now I am a regular reading Swedish TT blogs.

The chance of me making the first team is a lot less then the chance that we get to see Fred at the Olympics, that's for sure :D We currently have 3 teams in action, div 5, div 4 and div super 1. I play in div 5, but we have some chance of getting our team promoted to div 4, which is what we are hoping for. Getting to the super 1 team is very far away as these guys are all with in the top 100 in Sweden.

I take it you have seen the latest Fred video on the blog now? Some insulting comments, unfortunately, but over all, people seems to be very impressed with Fred and the progress he is making, so keep up the good work!

Even in Sweden, some people still have their hang ups about other peoples weight I see. I did try to post a comment on there, but it didn't seem to like it. (He isn't using booster either, though his rubber wasn't glued on entirely legally when it was done a couple of months ago as I still have about 1 litre of speed glue to go through and Fred won't be playing in anything official for some time yet.)

Anyway, back on topic and lets discus Speedplays vid again.

Speedplay, I hope the club(s) have good liability insurance. You could see in the first few minutes a child hanging like a monkey 1-2 meters high on the vertical pushed in bleachers. if he fell and cracked his skull, there would be some legal trouble.  Wouldn't happen if there was a parent controlling the kid.

Looks like USATT 2200-2600 depending on the play. That would easily be top level in any club anywhere in USA.

This vid looks like it was produced by the opposing team.

@Biggy,

Yes, this is roughly how I have estimated the level as well, al though I think that the better players in this league would dominate the British Premiere league, seeing how they all play top league in other countries. According to me, even a single win at this level is impressive!

@JKC,

Yes, the unavoidable weight comment was made and some other stupid remarks as well, but most of the comments are still very positive and shows how impressed they are with his skill.

@Der_Echte, no offence, but I think these guys would all crush any 2200 rated Usatt player with out to much effort. The way I see it, our top 15 year old kids must be at least 2200 Usatt and they are destroyed by these players, with the exception for the top 10-15 players in that age group. Don't know how big the gap is to 2600 Usatt, so I can't really comment on that. And yes, the video was made by the opponent and it looks like they would have won the match, seeing how most points go in their favour in the clip, but in reality, our team won 6-4, despite missing our strongest player.

As for the legal trouble, this isn't USA, parents are responsible of their own kids, so even if the kid were to fall, I think the problem would be for the parents and not those running the venue.  ;)

Exactly how things should be. Why does someone else have to be to blame for everything? People have to start to take some of the responsibility for their own kids in situations like this. Well done Sweden. (sorry to go off at a tangent again)

USA seems to lead the way in making legal issues out of nothing. Damned Lawers, ruin a good way of life. If anyone argues that they gotta eat too, they ought to have a few suck the life outta them like a leach.

Now that I REALLY made it a tangent...

Speedplay, I was commenting on the points they played. Some looked like 2200, some like 2600. The top players there looked certainly closer to 2600, which would crush a 2200 like a used newspaper every time.

Another extreme, but real example of USA mentality these days. An individual(s) break into someone's house in the middle of the night. He (or they) climb the stairs to find stuff to steal. Find loot and take it downstairs. Slip in a stair halfway down and crack their skull/neck. Robber gets to take the vicitims of the robbery to court for negligence of household maintenance and win a large dollar value judgement against the home owner. In a different era, say 1850 or so, we would simply shoot the joker(s), bury him/them out back, and clean up the mess with sawdust, then carry on like it was just a small annoyance. Damed lawyers.

Still, a 400 point gap at at level above 2000 means lower rated player has ZERO chance. Gap between USATT 2600 and 2200 is like the difference between Timo Boll and your number 3 player on your 1st league team in your club. A 2400 level player should mop the floor with a 2200 player, unless he has a REALLY bad day of historical proportions. 2600 level player kills a 2200 without breaking a sweat.

Thanks for clearing that up about the levels Der_Echte.

Now, as for the law-suits, in the case you describe, the thief could actually get some money here as well, but nothing compared to the money who would be able to get in the states.

I like this idea. Having 2 threads in one. It helps to stop the forum getting too clogged up with traffic.

Yes, it is also a great way to share secrets, call the tread some thing boring, like "Our first team" and no one will look at it, but then in the tread, you discuss (and probably solve!) some major problem of the world! :D

I did try to post a comment on there, but it didn't seem to like it.

Sorry, completely forgot to answer to this :sorry:

The comments you made are up now, but he have to approve of them before they get published on the site, that is probably why you thought it didn't like it.

Anyway, the blog is soon closed, he is currently doing a countdown for it, but he has promised he will start something else, but he wont say what it is. I'll keep you up to date with it, especially if he puts up more videos of Fred on there!
