Bloody excellant mate. Fred is comming along quite nicely. He has more understanding about hitting a ball correctly than a lot of players at my local club.

You will be finished in a couple of years mate. Freddy will own you. :P

Fred is tracking. This vid is good. I was waiting to see when he would blast one by you down the FH line. Sneaky leftie.

Fred's footwork has come along since the last video and it looks like he's getting more power on his forehands than in previous video's too, with more body rotation.

The backhand to forehand and forehand to backhand transitions you got him doing in the exercise than started around 2 minutes was good and I was impressed by the backhand winner on 5.12.

I have said it elsewhere that I fully expect Fred to beat me for the first time when he is 9 and by the time he is 11 he will probably beat me every time. He probably won't be beating all other players of a similar standard to me by 11, but he will be so used to my style that I won't pose him any problems. There are a lot of obstacles to get over though before he reaches 9 or 11 though, but I might end up with a pretty good practice partner before long.

He does hit them down my forehand from time to time, but he kept forgetting to get over the ball on the big shots. It isn't a big problem though and no doubt in his next vid (probably early Jan) you will see me out of position more and him hammering the ball down the opposite side more often.

I agree that his footwork is improving, and it is the main thing we are working on at the moment. His anticipation and first movement are getting better too so hopefully we can keep him right up at the table putting the pressure on his opponents (when he eventually gets some).

Thats quite interesting. When I was a Junior there was a lad called Stuart Worrell, he ended up top 3 Junior in England and highly ranked in the seniors, at the time he murdered everyone in my town exept for one quite average player......... his dad, who knew his game inside out. Things don't always turn out as we expect.

LOL!

We have something similar in our club at the moment. The young kid I've been talking about, he beats up most of us and pretty much everyone in his own age, but he still loses some to his dad, who don't even play TT! But, he have been assisting him with blocking and have now became a good blocker and he knows his sons game very well, so he can outsmart him with the block as his only weapon 8)

And yes, I do love the Wavestone blade(s) =) (And almost 10 sheets of Nittaku Best Anti!)

For some strange reason, hitting against my hardbat or my LP block seems to be his favourite bit. It will surprise a few of the old players around here when they come across a kid who doesn't shit his pants when he finds out they use pimples.

When my Son was comming through the Juniors, his coach said that by the time he was 15, I would not beat him anymore. Yet it wasnt until I Damaged my Knee that he finally beat me, and then I was able to get a return win about 2 months after the reco. So maybe a smart head beats a quick junior.

I met Khoan form our old Wotan days last night here in Korea and gave him a T-4 (ST) with Rapid Soft and 999 on Quattro.

He was in Korea on a mission to coach juniors for a competition. He didn't bring a proper racket to Korea. I gave him the business about that point then gave him the T-4 setup I had been carrying around as a backup. I wouldn't say he was flat-out impressed as he wasn't planning on playing any serious TT. We only hit for like 15-20 minutes. He had to fly out the next day back to OZ. I had a hit with his Korean friend who I found out later was an ex-national player. That Korean dude could make the ball bend the laws of physics on serves.
