Best Table Tennis Youtube video.
« on: October 28, 2009, 09:47:25 PM »
I've found a very entertaining Table Tennis Video clip of Waldner & Korbel playing Doubles together.

Jan-Ove Waldner/Petr Korbel - Slobodan Grujic/Lucjan Blaszczyk

Have you found any other entertaining Clips. I have to say that this one brought a smile to my face & I even had a little chuckle. :D

Rob, what bugs me with the video you selected is, it is so obvious that they hold back on their strokes, yet they play at a greater speed then most of us are able to do when we play at our full capacity.

Biggy, wow, what a great find, I learned tons through watching that! I never knew I could use the wrist to create spin, but from now on, I bet my serves will become a lot better! Is this possible the video JKC watched before he made his serving video?

I'd rather learn from JKC clips, they were easier to see.
I woudnt call it a good video anyway. He says one thing and does another. How often do you see world champions wave their hand around like the trainer in the video.
And Speedplay what you didn't know that using the wrist creates more spin.  :o

What annoys me about Rob's clip is the fat guy thinks he's Waldner.

Rob, ever heard of the word irony? ;)

The video was a disaster and I would also much rather learn from JKC. And, yes, I did know about the wrist before 8)

I saw that video quite while back and I think it is only really aimed at the very beginners of our sport and made by a player who is enthusiastic about what he is doing. We look at it from where we are and snigger, others who are new to the game probably look at these serves and think wow and would probably think this player was good if they saw him playing the game. It is all relative really and people need to know different stuff at different stages of development. I am not off out to practice his techniques, but there are some out there who may be helped by this vid if only by his description of how the ball may react off a bat due to different spins.

You have to be able to pick out the good stuff from the crap at times. Almost all of the coaches I know are worse players (and have always been worse players) than me, but some still have interesting stuff to say as they have different skills like watching the game or a stroke. We all have to decide if these people are worth listening to or not, but don't automatically dismiss the ideas of everyone who is a lesser player than ourselves. Of course there are plenty that do just talk crap.

Ha, its a bit like black people being allowed to use the 'N' word themselves, us fatties can call each other fat. Waldner needs to keep of the smorgasboard as he gets older and trains less :)
