Post Your Equipment Changes

When you start using a new blade, or put some new rubbers on a blade, you can post it here to see what people have changed from, and changed to. Also, as far as you can remember, post what equipment you have used in the time you have been playing. One lot of equipment usage would probably be at least 3 months or so.
Mine:
Donic Opticon RS w/ Milkyway Mercury 2.0, 729 Friendship Lightening 2.0.
Donic Opticon RS w/ Milkyway Venus 2.0, Milkyway Mercury 2.0
Donic Opticon RS w/ Milkyway Venus 2.0, Donic Desto-C topsheet with Donic Excl. Sponge 2.0
Donic Opticon RS w/ Andro Roxon 450 2.0, Yasaka Mark V 1.5
Yesterday, I took off my Milkyway Venus 2.0 and Donic Desto-C Topsheet with Donic Exlc. Sponge 2.0 from my Donic Opticon RS, and I put on FH: Andro Roxon 450 2.0 BH: Yasaka Mark V 1.5
Post your changes here!

I've been using the same old Roxon 450 for the last 2 years. Of course I changed my sheets a few times.

Well, yeah, I suppose so, but this topic is focused more on actual changes to different equipment.

Could be interesting to have a small list of what we have used in the past and what we uses now. I'll make a list of what I've used, al though not mentioning stuff I've only tried for a brief time.
1: Japsko Allround+ blade, 729 fx supersoft rubbers, max on both sides.
2: Joola Cat blade, Juic Couga max and Globe 999 max
3: Joola Cat blade, Juic Couga max and Dr Neubauer Superblock 0.6 sponge.
4: Dawei Wavestone blade, Juic 999 Elite Nano max and Juic Neoanti 2.0
5: Dawei Wavestone blade, Juic Nano Cannon max and Nittaku Best Anti 2.2
6. Dawei Wavestone blade keeping the Best Anti on the bh and have since then used Donic Platin, Andro Roxon 450 on the fh, soon to make the change to Roxon 500 PRO, all in max.
Set up 1-4 was back in the days when glue was still allowed. I have also had several other set ups that I've used for a brief period of time, but the listed set ups are those that I've been playing with as a primary set up for some time.
Logged
Dawei Wavestone Red Tenergy 05/Black Best Anti
Dawei Wavestone Red Roxon 450/Black Best Anti
Dawei Wavestone Red Roxon 450/Black Best Anti
And yes, I do love the Wavestone blade(s) =) (And almost 10 sheets of Nittaku Best Anti!)

i'm with speedplay on this one.. it would be nice to have the history: (this is over 15 years) (never speedgued)
Yasaka Gatien Extra (allround/flexible) w/ Mark V on both sides
Yasaka Gatien Extra (allround/flexible) w/ Mark V GPS on both sides
Yasaka Gatien Extra (allround/flexible) w/ Andro Plasma 430 on both sides
(i couldnt control it even at low thicknesses.. withthe flexible blade this rubber turned my racket intoa miniature catapult)
Andro Supercore Off (allround/notsoflexible) w/ Andro Plasma 430 on both sides (still a bit of a catapult bomb)
Andro Supercore Off (allround/notsoflexible) w/ Andro Impulse Speed
(awesome control and feel.. but slowed my game down)
Joola Rosskopf Power (offensive/flexible) w/ Andro Impulse Speed
(my current setup.. love it.. but still a touch too slow for the direction my game is going)
soon: (i hope very very soon.. rob sent them a week ago! ;)
Joola Rosskopf Power (offensive/flexible) w/ Roxon 330 + Hexer
I think theoretically, the roxon 330 should be quite similar to the Impulse speed on the BH but with a more spinny dimension.. the Hexer.. I'm very curious what it will feel like on my FH..

Look forward to your review about the Hexer, al though I would love seeing it compared to Roxon 450/500 or Donic Platin, but I suppose you haven't used those?

Do you think it's worth posting minor changes that you end up not liking anyway? Like, ones that you keep for between 5 minutes to 1 day before you say, I really don't like this.

Yes, my list would be a lot bigger if I posted everything I've ever used, but I tried to only post equipment that have been my primary set up for some time. Funnily enough, I also thought about it been using roughly for 3 months or more, to be posted here. :D

Edited orignial post. Now post what you have used in the past up to now that has been changed. Around about 3 months at least is probably a good sign of using equipment for a decent amount of time before changing.
Mine:

Donic Opticon RS w/ Milkyway Venus 2.0, Milkyway Mercury 2.0
Donic Opticon RS w/ Milkyway Venus 2.0, Donic Desto-C topsheet with Donic Excl. Sponge 2.0

Welcome back Priior, long time no see.
Ive been using my current setup for the last 6 months or more now and I feel I have sort of settled on it now after a lot of chopping and changing prior to this. List here is only what I have used this year going from current back.
Butterfly Gergely, Roxon 450 2.0 Red and Meteor Ox Black.
As above with Meteor 1mm Def sponge
As above with Bomb Talent Ox Black
Joola R1, Gambler Outlaw 2.2 Black, Palio CK351A Ox Red
Donic Enforce, Bty Tenergy 2.1 Red, Palio CK351A 0.6 Black.
I am intending to change the Roxon for Gewo ProtonXP 385 Sound, but the Roxon is still going so strong I am reluctant to make the change. It seems my Roxon just gets better rather than losing anything, but I'm sure there will come a point where its deterioration will become noticeable enough to swap it out.

I still have the same BTY TBS (Thanks Peter C !!) for the last 15 months. I have used a number or rubbers on the FH side. Quattro, Venus, 999, Highpoint to name a few. I am now using Outlaw 2.2 and if it becomes too brittle to use after the next month of use, then I will replace it with another rubber.

Venus is... Slower on slow strokes. A little slower on medium loops. Slower on close to the table drives. Almost same speed as Outlaw on away from the table fast loops. I wouldn't recommend Outlaw or any of its cousins for anyone who doesn't have a good drive or fast loop stroke. Outlaw does block and counter as well as Venus, but Venus is more controlable.

Venus performs kinda like a soft tensor that blocks and counters real well.

Rob, you should send it my way when you get tired of it, Hinoki and Zylon combination sounds exiting!
As for the 330's, I thought they were ... simply a softer version of the R 450? I would much rather try the Hexer (That is the other new Andro rubber, right?) or the new Donic Barracuda, which sounds really promising.

Bearing in mind your new combination and how you like it, do you feel that Roxon 330 might also be a valid choice for an Ishlion too?

yaY!!! i got my package today (thanks rob!!!) and got to play with it tonight!!!!
after 3 hours and 8 matches.. my impressions. (remember i'm a close to the table looper)
the wood: Joola rosskopf Power: very flexible medium to fast wood.
(1) roxon 330 (on my backhand)
this one surprised me a lot. I thought there would be absolutely no learning curve going from the impulse speed to the roxon 330 (same sponge after all)... well there was. a huge one. doing the same motions, the ball kept on going into the net.. i think it's cuz the topsheet is so much grippier more sensitive to incoming spin than i was used to... so i had to adjust my blocking motions. much easier to topspin and much harder to smack the ball. hands down MUCH spinnier than the impulse speed.
(2) hexer (on my forehand)
*wow* beyond my expectations. this rubber ROCKED for me. every shot is executed better than the impulse speed. the short game is shorter, the chops are spinnier, the loops make the ball drop like mad, the block can almost be placed exactly where you want on the table. (all this compared to the impulse speed). in the next few weeks.. i will try playing with it on my BH.. and i might end up with a hexer on both sides if it works!
both rubbers are much faster than the impulse speed at the mid and far distance... the hexer.. just makes the ball go on the table i have no idea how... might be the longer dwell thing.
peterC i have no idea what the ishlion is :)

Prior
I'm referring to the Butterfly Ishlion, which is a Hinoki Carbon blade, sold by Rob.
http://www.affordablett.com.au/shop/product_info.php?products_id=947
I bought one in June and used it with Energy Xtra on the forehand and Mambo on the backhand. For a carbon blade, it has a good feel to it and the control was better than I expected. Once I figured out how to block on the forehand and resorted to a more compact stroke, for off the bounce loops, I started beating some better players than me.
The lower dwell time meant less spin on the opening loop, compared to Persson Powerplay Senso V1, with the same rubbers. Even so it still generated good spin and serves were spinnier than some opponents realised. The issue of bottoming out was there on harder hits, which I was able to use to good effect on smashes.
Even though it's a fast blade, it was great for defending, 6 feet back off the table and for hitting winners with loop drives closer in.
The only reason it isn't my main bat is I tested a few blades and rubbers over the summer and settled on a Samsonov Alpha with 2.2mm Outlaw and 2.2mm Wraith and that is the bat I've started the league season with.
Recently I got to try Tenergy 64 on my teammate's Yasaka Extra and really liked it. It felt like a better rubber for my game, than Tenergy 05. I found it easier to vary spin and speed on loops; easier to control in the short game and less reactive to incoming spin. So I've ordered a red sheet of 2.1mm Tenergy 64, but haven't decided which blade to use it on. The Ishlion is one option and replacing Outlaw on the forehand of the Samsonov Alpha is another.

Got given a Donic Caymen with Joola Tango Extrem and Palio something or other.
It's going pretty good so far. Lower throw, stiffer, harder, lighter, and better control.
Have to test it more though.

peter:
I'm not a huge fan of carbon blades cuz theyre so stiff, and when you play close to the table, you really want that longer dwell time (imo)
The gatien Extra on the other hand is a sweet sweet blade... it's my backup blade... very nice feel/control albeit slightly slow.. again.. when close to the table.. speed is less of an issue.
rob: there is definitely something different about the hexer.. can't put my finger on it... the amount of spin it delivers is out of this world... reminiscent of the old speedglued markVGPS (without the feel and the sound tho)
