Shipping Calculations?
« on: November 13, 2007, 01:00:18 AM »
Ok, I purchase one rubber and the shipping is $3.50 roughly.  This I totally get, but does the second rubber I order in the same order also cost $3.50?  The weight difference should be negligible.  At least I would think so.  Does the shipping really hit you that hard Rob?  I will qualify this by saying that I don't very often recieve orders overseas.

No Skippy, The second rubber ussually costs a little less than the $3.50. But unfortunately the Shopping cart cannot calculate Goods sent as letter well at all. Infact it cant handle Letter calculations. Thats why I set up the other system.

The system calculates Postal articles very accurately. As long as their not Letter Sizes.

What i do, is refund the extra Postage when it overcharges. (this I have done many times)

If a blade is ordered, and some rubbers are placed in that order, The $3.50 charge is usually to much, so Again I must do the refund. Its complicated. Some times I set up a special item for customers so it includes the postage, Then after they have bought the item, I remove it from the shop.

Thanks Alfie, I've worked on the shipping, but just cant make the Shopping cart calculate corectly, at least not on letter sized objects. Have no fear, If your unsure, just asked and I will quote exactly to the cent.  :D

It's not a big deal.  It's only $3 but I was just curious.

Its easy to work out the postage rates.

Just go to the Australia post website http://http://www1.auspost.com.au/pac/

If its rubbers, use the letter section. If its a Blade use the Parcel section.

The Online Shopping cart is set up for Parcels, not letters. thats why I decided to have a drop down box for rubbers.

On the Australia Post Website, the smallest weight for International parcels to the USA is 0 - 250 grams = $8.50 Air mail,
yet 125 - 250grams in a letter (which is about 2 rubbers) = $5.80 Air mail.

Go Figure.

And since most people buy just one rubber, its easier to have the drop down box. And then refund the extra.

Stimmt. Rob refunded my paypal. The wife likes refunds. I like Quattro & Venus on the N-2. I had one day of family peace.
