I need Help, Reverse Forehand cross court
« on: July 14, 2009, 11:45:37 PM »
Hi Fella's (especially Big ears). I have a major flaw in my game (well not really, as my backhand makes up for it). Neverless I would like to rectify this problem. I can perform the forehand loop cross court as consistently as required. I can perform the forehand loop down the line time after time consistenly. But I really suffer on the reverse forehand loop. I'm doing something fundimentally wrong.  :(

Over the next week I will post a video clip of me doing it wrong (sound familar - Sorry SILVER). if you could please constructively point out my errors it would be appreciated. We can all see my progress over the weeks.

I assume you mean a FH loop from your BH side across to the opponents BH side Rob? Or are you trying to be a contortionist?  :o

Reb

I think you're right.

Rob calls it a Reverse forehand cross court, whereas Speedplay calls it stepping around and playing a forehand shot diagonally to a right handers backhand or left handers forehand.

In my case as a leftie, it's stepping around to play a forehand diagonally, to a right handlers forehand or a left handers backhand.

Are you trying to fade it rather than stepping right round and changing the angle of your whole body?

Reb, Peter, Speedplay & JKC you are all right. Thats the shot I constanly fail on. I've looked on all the video's I have and I cant really see the shot - Cause I suck at it. Will take some footage on Tuesday and post.

I have similar difficulties executing either a fading inside out FH loop or a FH loop from the middle of the table towards my opponent's (assume both RH) BH corner. I can nail the fast loop down his FH line or wide FH all day. I am 50/50 at best going the other way. I usually hit the net and out most of the time, sometimes just out long. It would probably help if I got some video of my failing. My guess is that I impact the ball too far in front of me.
