Leagues all over the world?
« on: July 06, 2009, 10:24:23 PM »
Seeing how it is hard to get any info at all about the top level, it is almost impossible to get any info about the level next to that :P

I'm interested in how different leagues compare to each other, and I'm speaking top leagues of respective countries. I've understood that the Chinese league is a really strong one, but how about other Asian leagues? Seeing how both Japan and Korea produces good players, one would assume they also had good leagues?

What about Europe? Germany, France and Spain probable have the best leagues here, but how do they rate against each other, and which countries come after that?

I play in the british league Div1, which is 1 level below the top standard you can play in the UK, I have played for three seasons in the top standard though (premier) the best players are pro's infact one member of my team had played Waldner Perrson and Applegren in a single match. The standard is made up mainly of ex internationals and players who never quite made the international grade, most players are ranked in the top 50 (UK) play is in International level conditions, two umpires per match, and thesedays is held on four weekends a year. The English county championships are also run parrallel to the British league, and are roughly the same standard.
most players also play 'local league' in the UK, these matches are played week nights, there are leagues in most English towns even the small ones, and the standard varies massively, but on the whole the larger towns have the greatest gathering of good players. An individual can enter as many local leagues as they wish, I am a member of Two, but there are 10 within a hours drive. There are no national ranking points for local league.
