Forhand Drive Loop.

Have a look at this short clip. Supachop is using a Thin sponge non Tensor rubber. HAve a look at the speed he gets on the ball. I will allow him to tell you what blade he is actually using.

Maybe I'm missing something but isn't that a forehand smash and not a loop? Also, doesn't he get good speed on his shot because of his good technique (weight transference, timing, etc) rather than his equipment? in any case you both have very nice games. Keep up the good work.

ROFL! I said the exact same thing, but some how, that post have disappeared. To me, this is a smash/flat hit rather then a loop or loop drive. For those shots, the rubber/blade isn't that important to generate good speed. I even think that a thinner sponge rubber might actually help hit the ball faster, if it is used on a fast blade.

Its called a drive/loop, because if you look closly you will see that he actually puts some topspin on the ball with his follow through.

Hmmm! Smash...drive loop...a matter of definition and perception. I guess most of my smashes are really drive loops under Robs definition. Get a ball as high as what Rob returned there and I just cal it an EASY PUT AWAY

Me and Rob have been over this before and I still think it is a smash. With inverted rubber's, it is almost impossible to hit with out adding some topspin to the ball but that don't make all of our shotsloops or drives. Like Blocker, I love Supachop's technique and I'm especially found of his footwork, as he reads the play and make sure to get in good position for the kill.

i guess the easiest way to solve this is to film Supachop playing a smash off a similar ball so we can observe the difference.
