how good is this rubber. What sort of style is it best used for. Hitting, brush looping, close to table play?

I use it on my primary setup. Venus excells at counterdriving, blocking, counterlooping, smashing and all loops minus brush looping (Very average there). Loops have loads of mechanical spin. Powerloops very explosive. Opening loops with medium speed carry good spin. Rubber is not so tacky at all after some hitting. I use it on a composite Carbon Arlyte blade, the BTY Timo Boll Spirit. Venus is a keeper. There are a couple of sponge densities out there. I tend to like the softer one 36-38, but the 38-40 can soften up later to my tastes. It is not a tensor and does a lot of the stuff Bryce did well.

I had my first hit with Black 2.0mm Venus (BH) last night

It was very tacky and slow to begin with - which will probably wear off after a couple more hits.

Venus looks to me to be a very good all-round rubber, consistent for chopping and blocking which makes it perfect for my backhand.

I was definitely making less mistakes than I was previously with my old Cream Transcend.
