Tenergy 25?
« on: November 17, 2008, 11:37:02 AM »
Hi Guys,

I saw the 25 is out finally, while lots have been discussed over 05 and the pros seem to use 64,,, I wonder if anyone has used 25 and how it plays in comparison to 05?

Cheers,
H

Hugo, you were lucky enough to be away when I tried the Tenergy 25. To be Honest with you, it felt very similar to the 05.

How did Tenergy 05 & 25, compare to Roxon 450?

What were the pro's and con's?

At first I didn't like the Tenergy 05, as it felt like the Sponge was super hard, but I must say that I was wrong. The sponge is not harder than some of the European Rubbers.

Although it doesn't suit my game, it will suit some peoples game very much. It has a very grippy topsheet and I would say its as fast as Roxon 450/500.pro
I think its suited more for the Flat hitter or power driver. Its topsheet is thicker that the Roxons. Its a good rubber but well overpriced. As for the Tenergy 25, it had slightly bigger pimples underneath but felt identical in playing character.

WHAT???? Did Phil have it???

Man,, so wanna try it to see if its worth getting,,,

Coz based on the pip difference and say if everything else are the same for 25 and 05, then, the bigger pip should really produce a flatter trajectory and should be better for flat hitting and slightly less spin..

But, without hitting it you wouldnt know, and I got scared of the LKT Torrent's huge pip - to me it was a horrible rubber,, and I seriously think 25 needs a test hit b4 buying...

Anyone else have tried it?

ok so i was playing with 05fh and TC bh for a while and have been really liking it....and now testing the 25 out......originally i got it to play on the BH, cuz it has that lower arc that i like, but it was missing a bit of power on my punch shot with my BH, where kinda snap my wrist when the ball is high enough.....i'm not sure why it lacks power with this shot cuz the rubber has tons of speed?

anyway i tested it out on the FH now and really like it....i can really power threw the ball...hitting is made much easier with 25 compared to 05....but the beautiful thing is, is that the spin is still there with the 25, but it is only the arc that is changed, the 25 has a flatter arc

so for me with the 25 close to the table this helped me block a bit easier and i could really put a lot more power into my shots ...........as for going back from the table i really had to remind myself to open the face of my racket, bcuz of the difference in throw angle ...aside from that i think 25 is a more versatile rubber, meaning if you have more then just looping in your arsenal then 25 may be the better choice

although if you are a true looper, and loop almost anything then i would recommend 05

you have to give the 25 a fair chance tho....cuz i almost gave up on it to soon cuz i was so used to the 05....but after a couple sessions i'm really liking it....all my testing was done on my bty ZLC

enjoy
