By popular demand, here is a short clip of me having a bit of a knock with my World Champion (over 75s) mate. A few backhands to start with followed by a few rallies. Nothing too exciting. You will notice that I didn't get dressed up for the occasion though.

I am using my T-4 with Transcend SP both sides (+CTE).
He uses Winning NP-1 (or 8?) no sponge on FH and Meteor 8512 with a thin sponge on FH.
I will try to get a clip of me playing someone more attacking in future.

Anyone seen the edit icon? I am going to struggle on here without one of those.

-The second FH should have been a BH.

He is also currently using a very wonky looking blade with the handle off-centre which he says was given to him by Chester Barnes sometime in the past. He usually uses a Moonbeam though.

Wait a minute, this one has an edit icon. How odd. Now I am starting to talk to myself.

I can do OK BH loops, but have to make my feet position almost entirely BH open. I have recenty tried doing it the right way from the neutral stance by bouncing a ball off the ground and looping through it.

You do this quite naturally and consistantly. Sehr impressiv.

Although I say it myself my backhand is not too bad. I was coached quite a lot when I first started, but don't particularly remember working on my backhand too much, it is mostly natural.
There is plenty I could do to improve my forehand though. After playing for nearly 21 years it is a little late to start messing with my shots now, I will just try to touch up what I have. If I could begin again though things would be different. I would start playing before 14 for a start.

The edit icon is only available for the first 30mins after the post is made, after that its locked.

Your shots are fantastic JKC, especially the backhand, very consistent, and from the video's you produce a lot of spin, the ball dip's like crazy. I can see why you say, loop it. Its also great to see that you still enjoy the game after so many years.

I guess it's my time to get a bloody video online.  I could really use some constructive criticism, and probably some unconstructive criticism.

The next vid will be done at the end of the month. I don't want to flood the forums with vids of fred, I want to wait a little longer so there is a little improvement to comment on and then people be more willing to give some tips for things to work on. I am taking him out tomorrow morning and will film him for the next 3-4 sessions, including the best bits on the vid.

The inspirit was a little lower throw than the 007, but that took hardly any time to adapt to as he has not been doing his shot very long anyway. The main problem he had was the change in weight as his previous bat was quite a bit smaller and therefore lighter. His timing was out as he was finding it difficult to accelerate the blade as he did with the other one and he was complaining that his arm was tired. I decided that rather than make this bat smaller I would take the backhand rubber off for a while and in the future I will slowly increase the weight until I can put it on again. I have also filed back the shoulders of the blade a little to make it more comfortable for him and changed the handle to the same shape as his old bat.
He is playing well with it though and regularly does 10 shots + in a row when I can slow him down and stop him trying to hit the ball past me.

Below is his bat as it currently looks and his old bat for comparison.

That reminds me, I must get the hoover out.

I was bored tonight and there was not much happening on the forums so just for you skippy and extra (unofficial) vid stuck together from Freds first practice with his new bat last Sunday. I will begin getting stuff together for the official vid tomorrow.

I get goosebumps watching the last few shots.  He was cracking the ball on those last few.  My wife and I are working on the procreation process (the fun part).  If I get fortunate enough to have a child that has an interest in table tennis that would just be fantastic!

I will form a breakaway TT federation where all previously banned practices are allowed (at your own risk of course) just for him. I will be the new Sharara. Oh the power I will have, the money, the glory.

I think it would be wise to keep Schildkrot out of this new federation, but what do I know.  You are the Sharara.

I am hoping to get the next vid of Fred on Youtube tomorrow and post a link shortly afterwards. I have nearly 1 min of vid so far and will get another 30 secs or so from some different angles when we play tomorrow. There should be plenty to comment on and I need you to all get your thinking caps on to tell me where we could improve our practice and ideas on how to continue to make it enjoyable (other than bribing with chocolate).
