Pete I notice an untreated Quattro is quite smooth on the topsheet surface. I have given mine a few drinks of Eucalyptus Oil and Spimnax which gives it some tack. But without this I could imagine after not too long, just being cleaned with water it would become a bit slippy. I think it still gives spin when its smooth and soft, but if it hardens up some, then becoming slippy and harder to dig the ball into the sponge would make sense.
Tell them to spinmax it and even give it some EO if they have it available. Otherwise, wipe some veggie oil or olive oil over it.
