Break-away forum?
« on: January 05, 2008, 02:12:48 AM »
Ok I found my way to this forum leading me from the AffordableTT site which was linked from TT Victoria. Now I find the members here, surprise surpise have very similar names to another forum I visit which also has a TT shop attached. So could someone please explain to me is this like a break away forum and is there a reason for this or have I missed something? Seems a lot less busy here for sure.

Hello RebornTTTTEvnglist!

I wouldn't call this a break away forum, more a slightly different one. As you might have noticed, the OOAK forum is more or less a pips out based forum, while this forum clearly aims more to the double inverted players, even though I have tried to convince them all about the benefits of pips

RTTE, you will see me in 4 different forums. Too bad I am about charasmatic as a used tampon, or I would be able to attract a hundred frequent posters here. Enjoy the fun here as well...

Actually, you should make that 5 Der_Echte, here, OOAK, DTTW, Mytt (with a different user name) and then lets not forget that great Swedish forum where you are a member :D  Thats about the same places as me, but I rarely visit the Mytt forum.

Haha Der_E. Actually I think a used tampon has much charisma if seen the right way. Means you know there has been no knocking up and its safe from alimony (we call it child support in Aus)

Well I must say there's a lot more activity at OOAKT but I'll pop in here as well and see how it livens up. Is this forum Melbourne based (ie. in the way OOAKT is Adelaide based)?

Welcome and many happy returns RebornTTTTEvnglist,

No this is not a breakaway Forum, OOKT is in South Australia and we are based in Victoria.
I started the online shop about 1.5 years ago, to bring Table tennis equipment at a lower cost to the public. I think we have achieved that. The purpose of this forum, is as follows.

1. General discussion on Table Tennis Products
2. Questions on products sold in the Shop
3. A bit of fun.

I'm not strict on what discussed on this forum, and I generally don't go and delete posts (or edit) unless they are vulger. If you want to Bag me, you welcome as well. Its a way of improving my service.  ;)

Thanks Rob,

I did wonder if you were Victorian based. Obviously I found the OOAKT site first, but its nice to know there is a Vic option. I will bear you in mind for future needs and try to participate in the forum too. And I will only bag you if you need bagging, which I am sure you would not set out to do, haha.

Cheers,

Reb.

I think one really big difference in the two shops between ATT vs. OOAK is that in the inverteds Rob is a bigtime Tensor train retailer, and Alex and Yuna are big time Chinese Tacky retailer, and even the Jap/Euro stuff they carry all of the brands have a flagship tacky rubber i.e. 999 Elites, and Triple Spin.

Ok, thats interesting to know Skippy. I lean toward tacky rubbers only because this is what I have always looked for to maximise the spin I get, but one of these days I should try to venture into this tensor field and see if it has anything to offer my game. BTW, are you an aussie living in US, or is Skippy just a name you chose?

Yep join the tensor train. I find that I can generate more spin on hard shots with tensors than tacky stuff, even if it's softer tacky stuff (eg, triple 21). Of course, the tradeoff is less spin on serves and pushes (eg, low speed impact stuff).

How true, that exactly how I feel, more spin in general except for serves. I think I'll have to practice a bit more to get a finer touch.

I have dropped the Spinmax and Tensorified my Transcend SP after an extreme session with Tempo Booster. Still just as much spin from this now almost tackless version but more speed and much more noise. I think if I had the cash I would try a proper Tensor but for now I have a pretty good second choice.

I used 4-5 layers and then rolled it on with a rolling pin to stretch it more. It expanded about 1 inch.

I'm just an American that had an evil brother that either called me stupid loser, or Skippy.  I liked Skippy better so that is kinda what I went by for many years.  It just kinda stuck with me for awhile, till I moved a couple times and the nickname left.  I did however keep the name Skippy alive by naming my dog that.  It wasn't till I joined this forum that I learned of some Kangaroo named Skippy that's part of some children show (is that all correct?).  I'm afraid there's nothing interesting about it.  I wish I had some bigger more grandeous reasoning behind it, but there really isn't....sorry.  On a side note that evil brother and I get along alot better these days.  Probably because I'm two inches and 80 pounds bigger than him now.  Sorry it took me so long to respond to this.  I don't check this thread out much as I don't really know anything at all about soccer.

No worries Skippy (or Skip as we Aussies shorten it to). Thanks for explaining and its actually an interesting story. I think we can make you an honorary Aussie with a name like that anyway. So you can thank your brother these days, LOL. And you are correct about the TV show, Skippy is a highly intelligent creature in it, so I think your brother was paying you a compliment even if he didn't know it. Not only that, but you should check the footwork on a Kangaroo, LOL. As for soccer, I didn't realise this was all that was discussed in here, but I like soccer so I don't mind. I don't follow the Euro leagues (or any leagues really) much though. Just like it when Aussies get in the world cup, although the refs treat us like something that fell off the back end of a dog.
