Are you a better club or tournement player?

Which of you do better in club than in tournements? Which of you perform better vs the same opponent(s) in tournaments?

There is a player in Uijeongbu who is a half level better than me and every time I visit his club (my old club) I lose 1-3. Although I compete strongly in these club matches vs him, I never seem to win the games.  Yet every time I play him in the regional tourneys here, I have never lost to him. It is like the tables are turned. He is the one on the short end of the close games. One week ago, I had an exceptional day and defeated him 3-1.

This seems to be the case with some other local players I face. in the club they win 50/50 vs me, but in the regional tourneys, they lose to me.

On the flip side, I do very well playing vs the national level div 1 players who visit our club o when i go to their clubs in Seoul and other places, yet I am sure that in a tourney, i would not win the same games vs them.

Don't play enough tournaments to be able to say. Club play has been pretty good of late. Hope to play a couple of tourney's some time this year if it fits my calendar.

It's hard to say when there are no strong players in your local club. I'm sure I'd have a fairly large table and lighting home ground advantage against a non local player there but all my best matches have been played against stronger players elsewhere.

I have to play up to 400 ratings points above the standard I need to win at home when I travel away just to compete so away from home is always going to be where I play best.
