As the centre of the quake was at Upper Sturt, quite close to Etsa, it might affect the stadium!? Only 3.3 degree. Perhaps a few tables got moved from their positions!?

Looks like Bryce has knocked out the number one seed in the singles, I knew he was better than he performed in the teams. He's got to get over Greg Letts now, lets see what he's figured out about the trickery in the past couple of days.

Unfortunetly he lost to Greg in 3 sets. 11-7, 11-4, 11-4.  Brian got knocked out by Bill Robson in a close 5 setter. I wonder if Greg can go all the way this year. Greg has to play Wayne higinbothom next. I copped him in the first round. He's just come back from the Malaysian Vets Open, he got to the last 16 and was knocked out by the no.1 seed, who got to the final but forfeited.

Greg Letts v Wayne Heginbothan not sure who'll win this one,
Anthony Jeffries v Bill Robson, my prediction is Bill in 3.

You've posted a clip of this Hegingbotham guy before, he's a lefty looper/ chopper, looks to me like he's in my ball park though. I wonder if in passing conversation with Greg you mentioned playing Me Rob?

No heginbotham is a right handed looper. About 5 foot 5.. Has won the event in the past. Plays in Paul Pinkewich team and gets lots of combo practice. It will be an interesting match.

Greg snuck into the final winning that match in 5, he then lost the final in 3. Still it's hard to complain with runner up at such a big event, I'm sure he's fairly happy. The guy that won was from the over 50's.

The winner was 8th seed and toppled some big names to make the final and win. Must have been on fire!!

But then he lost the O50's to W Heganbotham. Go figure! Thats TT!

Finally back home after a big week!
It's sure nicer to check in & post from my laptop, rather than my mobile!!

One of the many things that dawned on me over the course of the championships... there is no substitute for long term playing experience!!
I was thinking the over 40s group would be by far the strongest and then each group would trail off respectively in strength as the players get older.
Whilst this may be true with outright hitting power and agility, it is not really the truth when comparing basic winners & losers!!
I think the O/50s & maybe some O/60s would be generally far tougher competitors than many of the younger brigade!

Of course, when your in the O/40s and have as little as 10 years experience (really only 2 or 3 years in tournaments)... then what hope did I have!!
Great fun all the same! I'll be nominating again next year without a doubt

Final day of the tournament, and fantastic games. Only one thing not in order. My camera focusing became defective and my hands are unstable as I just recover from a fever that daunted me for three days. So do not attempt to enlarge the vid clips. Just watch at small frame.

The first recoding was the men semi final +50 between Paul Pinkewich and Paul Robson. Great match but recording failed due to camera fault. I rectified the fault and managed to do the other men 40+ and 50+ single matches recording.

And Greg is one of those annoying retrievers that just keeps getting those punisher shots back. Very annoying to play against his style, cos you think you've hit a winner and it comes back with such awkward flight, spin and bounce, your next shot can make you feel very stupid! :lipsrsealed:

Also if you have a close look at Bill Robson - he's the infamous Blocker.

I have to say I was totally amazed at these guy's abilities to read the play, the ball and their opposition! The tactics and sheer tenacity of these guys is incredible to watch. But it needs to be seen live!!
Thanks heaps jixiaolan for making the effort to record and post these clips.... but really, they don't show the quality of the games that is evident when you are there and marvel at their abilities.... not even close!
Then to actually play them in person is quite humbling.. at least for me it was!

You are absolutely right, blue_smartie68. The difference between watching the games live and on video is huge. The spin, speed and the exploding surge of the ball generated can be only experienced there.

Here's the full O/40 Men's Singles semifinal between myself and Wayne. It was a lot of fun to play, and there are some nice rallies in there. This was the first time we have actually played each other.

I just love the twiddling on receipt of serve, bang on the point of delivery, very difficult to achieve competently, but pays huge dividends in curtailing a big third ball.
