Australia Veteran Open Championship 2011, Adelaide Etsa Stadium
« on: October 16, 2011, 07:27:30 AM »
I have the opportunity to watch the Aust Vetetrans Open 2011, and recorded some games video clips.
This is one:

VIC vs SA 70+.AVI

Hope yoyu enjoy this clip. I was amazed at the seniors TT standard.

Cheers

And another one:

NSW Bill Robsson vs Klp Chang.AVI

Sorry, as I was using my reserve video camera, the quality of the clip is not very good and it is a little shaky(not using triport stand)

Keep recording as many matches as you can. These older players have lots of secrets and strategies that need preserving for future generations!.

If anyone would like to follow the tournament as it goes on, the results are update here after each round. Victoria looks like it has very strong teams so hopefully gets most of the results. A strong state Vetrans comp is probably the main key to strong TT state overall so it's something to work towards.

Hi Jix,

Glad you found your way to this forum and took some vids over there for us. In the vid here it looks like Eddie Keung (the Victorian) that was popping into screen from the table next to you videoing. I couldn't quite tell as I haven't seen him for a couple of years and have only ever seen him wear black LOL. I played him in 2008 at a tournament. If it was him he would have been higher standard than the ones you were videoing.

In the background of this vid it looks like Brian Berry, but you didn't get him in shot enough to tell conclusively lol.

Remember to video the green and blue and white shirts that have Victoria on the back

Doesn't look like Blue has scored a game yet JT. And seems Rob has only played a double!

Hey guys,
Nah, your right Reb.... I'm 0 from 6 at the moment and we play robs team tomorrow morning!! So I can't really see me getting on the score board there either with Rob, Bryce, David or kouros lol.

Basically these guys are way too good for me, but I am pinching a few games here and there.
Great experience and I'm sure it will be extremely beneficial for my game longer term.
Played Greg letts this morning... pretty sure he was just toying with me, but I did win a few points which weren't nets or edges lol.

Hey Blue, ok so you are playing then. From looking at teams results it looks like you are on the bench. Maybe I am just not seeing the right results sheet?

Blue,  Kouros is definitely beatable for someone that attacks early like you, I got a game just blocking him without playing a single loop (he didn't give me much chance lol) but the point is it's not out of the question you should go into that one at least knowing it's possible.

Bryce is going to be a bit of a problem :0 since he's really on another slightly higher level but you'll have a close match with Rob if you keep your recent form so go hard:!)

Oh yes, I saw Eddie and Bryce playing but no recording done as it was tiring to hold the camera with my hands. this camera is my reserve kit. My primary camera, together with its pouch and the tripot stand, had a little misfortune - they went plunging into Glegnelg sea water, no thanks to those youngsters who bumped into me while shooting sun set at the jetty wharf.  :undecided:

All right, now broadcasting today games for Victorians!!!

Vic vs Qld men single.AVI

Brilliant, Rob! Quick FH and BH flicks and loopings. Nice edge ball too haha

Vic vs Qld women single.AVI

Is this Victorian playing? Had time constraint today, no time to check the little white board at the other end of the walk path.

One more video treat for the day:

Tasm vs NZ women.AVI

If you are wondering what is going on between 1:22 to 1:32  , well I was picking up the ball from the floor for the NZ player.

Such a shame for you to lose your main vid cam that way Jix. Ignorant kids!!

Good to see Rob performing well there. I assume you introduced yourself?

Yes the lady is Victorian. I have spoken to her, but I forget her name.

Now the name mentioned, I recalled seeing that  on the tag at her back.

Oh oh, I have two meetings today. Don't think I may make it to Etsa stadium. As an alternative to my treat, shall post a few pictures later.

Quick post guys... phone's nearly flat!
Rob got me in 4 but I did make him work!! The 11-0 result is a mistake... I think that game was about 11-8. The last was 11-3 tho.... yep, brain fade lol.

Won my first game this arvo.... against a pips player too. Yay!
We play NSW tomorrow... hopefully some more wins there :)

I didn't think it would be possible to go 11-0 :). It's all the sweeter when you beat someone with pips too ;0. It's like Usain Bolt winning a race while running on wet lino.

This Victoria v West Australia will be really close, I assume the strongest 3 from each are in since it's such an important match. I'm especially interested in the Bryce v Greg showdown.

No, what is sweet is when the pips are like a wall with all sort of spin variation coming back off them to the point the dual inverted player is visually frustrated

I wonder does any one of the participants affected by the earth quake yesterday early morning, around 2.00am to 2.30am? I was waken up.Wow, first time experience of quake. Window rattling and a loud noise like that of a passing by heavy vehicle.

I hope you players slept soundly after a long day at Etsa.  Some of you might not be get back to sleep, and it will be tiring to play today.
